I used vanilla cake mix (7-1/2 cups sifted flour, 1 Tbsp. salt, 4-1/2 cups sugar, 4 Tbsp. baking powder) and the same recipe as above.
Very, very nice but completely different texture. Much more airy. But tastes very buttery considering there isn't any butter in them at all."Finish each day And be done with it.

Plain flour.
6 cups of sugar yes but it makes enough mix for about 5 batches of brownies.
I think one recipe makes about 8 brownies."Finish each day And be done with it.

Was thinking would be plain if adding baking powder, the ratio of sugar-flour bothers me too, might see if I can make it with reduced sugar. One day I might be more organised...........

I made them! Hooray! I got enough for 4 batches (my scales aren't great though so I suppose I could have got another batch perhaps). I made them as round balls, but they squished into a flat giant cookie. I'm not sure why but they seemed very greasy so maybe I used too much oil. Anyway they are really nice!July Win: Nokia 58000

It sounds like a lot of sugar but actually it is because there is not much flour. Generally brownies are like pound cake with half the amount of flour which is why they are gooey.
That recipe has 4.5 cups flour plus 6oz cocoa which is probably about 1.5 cups cocoa so a total of 6 cups flour & cocoa. So it is a classic brownie recipe with half the weight flour and cocoa as other ingredients.0 -
Yes, they are sweet but then again so are brownies.
Also the resulting biscuits are very fudgey-like which again explains the sugar content. I think in most baking recipes (except meringues) you can cut out about a third of the sugar without it noticing too much. I think in this case though doing so might affect the fudgey texture."Finish each day And be done with it.

Got some in the oven. Girls liked making them. Hope they taste nice as I made the full batch of dry ingredients up so loads left.0
