I'm not so fussy with my toilet roll as i am with my washing powder...I tend to go down my local 99p store for toilet roll and it actually feels better quality than the cheapest in the supermarkets...not sure what the brand is though, will check next time i buy some!!! Washing powder I tend to stock up when there are offers on...and don't use too much powder/liquid in each wash so it lasts longer!!!

My other trick is to buy fairly cheap comfort too help with the freshness of bedding/towels with still less power/liquid than what i should use!!!

Each wash is just as clean and fresh as if I were to use the right amount or more than stated on the packet!

The last time I bought toilet roll was Tesco's Spring Force Toilet Tissue which is currently £1.99 for 9 rolls approx. 22p/Roll. OK, it's not as luxurious as some of the brands though, and as some have already pointed out, it does the job. This is actually cheaper than Tesco Value which is currently £1.31 for 4 rolls (32.8p/Roll). Mind you, ASDA's Smartprice White Toilet Tissue probably beats these hands down at 70p for 4 rolls (17.5p/Roll).

Soft Silk Toilet Tissue 6pk - White or Peach at the 99p Store (16.5p/Roll). May just give this a go! :D Don't know if this has been mentioned, Poundland also sell a 6 Pack of Silk Soft White Toilet Tissue, also in Peach as well.

Thanks for doing the research, I usually buy Spring force too but will def try Soft Silk as it works out an extra 3 rolls for the same price.

    Incidentally,

Lenor Fabric Conditioner Concentrate Summer Breeze - 85 Washes (3L) Was £6.46 Now £3 (3.5p/Wash) at ASDA

    And

Lenor Fabric Conditioner Spring Awakening - 85 Washes (3L) Was £6.46 Now £3 (3.5p/Wash) at ASDA

These are approximately the same price as ASDA's Chosen Fabric Softener range - 57 Washes (1.99L) which are currently £2 (3.5p/Wash).

Cheaper even, and again not sure if this has been mentioned already:

    ASDA Smartprice Concentrated Fabric Softener - 42 Washes (1.47L) 66p (1.6p/Wash)

The above are slightly cheaper than Tesco as well:

Comfort Concentrate Fabric Conditioner Sunshiny Days - 42 Washes (1.5L) Was £3.30 Now £1.65 (3.9p/Wash) until 23/01/2012 at Tesco

    And

    Tesco Pure Concentrated Fabric Conditioner - 42 Washes (1.5L) £1.95 any 2 for £3.50 (4.6p/4.2p/Wash) until 31/01/2012.

    Hi

Iceland do 4 toilet rolls for £1 and they are as good as the named brands.
I have been using them for a while now and they are thick and double up as tissues for colds, make up removal etc.

I'm not fussy and luckily hubby doesn't notice these things as long as they're there! If I asked him to get toilet roll, he'd come back with Andrex or Cushelle all the time! I buy Lidl own brand toilet roll, £1.69 (I think) for 10, it's soft and not too thin.

As for washing powder, I am also still using Netto own brand that I bought a stock of when they had 100 wash pack for £5. I estimate I won't need washing powder until at least August and when I do it will probably be Lidl Formil or some other supermarkets own brand.
You'll have to speak up; I'm wearing a towel
  • Surf Tropical Powder 4kg - reduced from £9.99 to £4.99 at Morrisons until 31/01/2012. Works out approx. 10p/Wash (£1.25/kg).

    and:

Persil Biological Powder Detergent 8.5 kg, 100 Washes - £12 at Amazon. Works out 12p/Wash (£1.41/kg)

And spotted the following on the Help cheapest 4washing powder? thread.

I buy this of ebay .Washing Powder 2 x 10 Kilo Bags Leading Brand. - £15.99 buy it now and £5 p&p

"Each bag contains 10 kilos crushed laundry tablets making it highly concentrated, therefore you only need a small amount. There is enough powder for approximately 350 washes per bag which works out at 2p per wash per bag."

I find a big difference in how quickly clothes fade with different cleaning products and how well they're cleaned which relates to how long before you need to wash them again, so I wouldn't suggest shopping on just price as the results are not all the same and you might get better value by using something else. I really like the persil liquid tabs because they clean very well and haven't faded anything yet, so I'm willing to pay a bit more for them (stock up during offers) as I am getting more for my money.

I use the smartprice fabric softener and its great i only use half the amount and water it down a bit as my machine can get a bit clogged i got told it was because the water pressure isn't that great.
