Washing Powder and Toilet roll

It would be very helpful if someone would share with me what price limits they put on a branded washing powder/liquid and toilet roll.
I pay no more than 31p a roll for toilet roll.
We don't like Nickys toilet roll unfortunately, largely because it is scented - maybe they do an unscented version but I haven't seen it. A lot of people recommend Nickys on this board.

I don't have a limit for washing powder/liquid - I buy whats good value when I get there by comparing per 100g so any help on how better to do this and what my max price should be would be very helpful.
Many thanks.

  • We get the Nicky toilet roll in the green packet and it doesn't appear to have a scent (definitely not a strong one although I don't sniff it all that often lol).

Washing powder I don't have limit on like you mention but I just tend to get whatever is on offer.

Buy whatever soap powder/fabric conditioner are on offer, usually Daz or Bold, seem to be the best offers. Stocked up on the Fairy when it was on offer recently for when Bubs comes along, it never seems to be very cheap though!

Toilet roll, OH will only use Andrex or Velvet, so just whenever these are on offer we'l stock up.

Cut the amount of washing liquid/powder you use in half by adding a scoop of soda crystals (99p shop). Softens the water and helps control limescale.

I am using Sainsburys basics at the moment, just under £1.80 a box and does 30 washes but I do not use as much as it states on the box, I have also used one from poundland.
Loo roll i buy when on offer, if there is nothing i normally buy the basics to tide us over untill an offer comes up

I buy the nikki loo rolls in the green packet as they are not scented. They are £2 for 9.

I am currently still using the netto powder I bought just before they shut down locally as it was not only cheap at £1.69 for a large box but it did not make me and my son itch like most do.
The best bargains are priceless!!!!!!!!!! :T :T :T
  • what is Nickys toilet paper?
i usually buy the big pack of 24 Asda own brand . It's about £8. however, i do have a quick look at the others price per roll to see if anything on offer would be a cheaper buy.
Washing powder i always look for the cheapest branded powder per kg. At the moment, ive got Persil from Tesco at £1.32 (i think) a kg. Ive never used an own brand. whcih would people recommend? I do an Asda online order. Tesco and Lidl are 14 miles away and the nearest big shops.
  • we just buy when we see things on offer, like we got 12 toilet rolls in tesco for £2.99 last week, so works out at 25 per roll.
Then we buy Washing Gel rather than powder, and it is sometimes on offer for £3-4 and about 18 washes, but i always use a coupon.
i have lots for £1-2 off and for most of the big brands too, so we get a nice quality cleaner.

I would suggest going down to home bargains and using the nicky loo rolls in green, they are not scented. (now ive just seen other people say that too hehe)
you can get 9 for £2 or 18 for £3.99. such a bargain!

don't get mislead by andrex and cushelle's offers. £5 for a pack of 12 is not a deal! lol. xx
