Forgive me for asking for help on a forum that offers advice and help!!! or so I thought.
You are being completely unreasonable. The charges for an IVA are huge compared to the money you owe so you really don't NEED one.0 -

DMP - a possibility, but seems daft to pay a DMP company to pay creditors for you (Even charities like CCCS take a slice off the payments to cover their costs, so it would elongate the time it took to pay off the debts, not by much granted..)
Admin order - non CCJ so not eligible
DRO - Debts within the limit, but OP is unlikely to be actually insolvent with such low debts, and with other eligibiltiy criteria, a £90 fee, and serious impacts on your credit rating and other restrictions, so it seems disproportionate really.
IVA - The costs of an IVA are often around 3-4k, so an IVA manys no sense at all.
Bankruptcy - Again, possibly not 'formally' insolvent, and also with costs of minimum £525 (£700 if not eligible for fee remission) it's totally disproportionate and they'd be likely to refuse BR. The restrictions and impact on the OP would also be harsh considering the small amount of debt.
IMHO the OP would be better reducing her expenditure, increasing her income by any means neccessary and just knuckling down and throwing everything she could at the debts. Even at £100pm it would be cleared in a year, not particularly that unachievable especially if they ebay/so car boots etc.Total 'Failed Business' Debt £29,043

To be fair in her OP she did say she thought she didn't owe enough for an IVA - but asked what sort of help she could get. She is obviously struggling financially on a low income and worried.
The answer is probably the help she can get is practical advice and support on trying to make ends meets from posters on this forum.A smile enriches those who receive without making poorer those who giveor "It costs nowt to be nice"0 -

woah, easy! i was merely pointing out that for debt of £1200, which isnt a massive amount compared to a lot of people, assistance probably isnt required. It would be far more beneficial to you to manage the amount without any assistance, which would only add more cost to your resoloution and potentially impair your credit file0 -
I think there are options out there for you, but it's difficult for people to answer on here without knowing the ins and outs, ups and downs of your circumstances. I think with £1200 of debt that bankruptcy and IVA are not worth looking at. However a DRO should be considered, as should some sort of DMP.
Why not contact a free advice agency? National Debtline, CCCS or CAB. go through your circumstances with an advisor who will then offer you the best ways out of your situation0 -
Thank You Tixy, you seem to be the only person on here who understands that I'm not looking to bankrupt myself or go for an expensive debt plan of some sort. I just wanted a little bit of friendly advice. I feel as though I've been completely battered by most of you for trying to stop the situation before it gets too out of hand.
I've tried CAB I did a soa for them but wasn't sure how much was practical to put for clothes and haircuts also for things like school trips. I thought they would be able to say "a reasonable amount for an adult and child would be £xxx". Unfortunatly the man that I saw didn't seem to understand what I was asking and said "if you can manage without them thats a good thing" I can't manage without them!!!0 -
Jilly pop over to the Debt-Free Wannabe section and try posting up your statement of affairs on there - people will tell you whether something looks a lot, or doesn't look enough to manage on for the size of the family etc, and will see if we can suggest areas you could make some changes whilst still be able to manage.A smile enriches those who receive without making poorer those who giveor "It costs nowt to be nice"0

Jilly you could try the CCCS debt remedy online tool to give you a better idea whether a DRO or DMP might be of help to you.0

can your son not help you out. if he has a wage comming in, have you checked that your on the correct level of benifits/tax credits. if you can't afford to repay the debt. offer what you can. they will be more willing to listern to you if you tell them your having problems than waiting to default on them.0
