Technically it shouldn't do provided you've been in this country for 26 out of the last 52 weeks. But please be aware that my daughter's appeal was turned down on the basis that because she went abroad she couldn't have needed help. Wrong application of the law which we are appealing but it takes more time.............. months and months. How would you deal with this? You need to be prepared to tell them in black and white why and how you went abroad and how you managed given your care and mobility needs. I hope you get the rest you need and recharge your batteries..... it's a long slog that really takes it out of you. HTH0

If you're thinking of harming yourself or someone else, is it really a good idea to go abroad and leave your medical support behind? Suppose you were taken ill whilst away?0

the problem is i feel is everyone is against me and to be honest i get too paranoid i dont even go to cinemas or shopping centres etc i try and go local shopping etc but need people who i can trust and there are few people i do, some questions i get asked about my behaviour make me even more depressed!
yes i do worry about flying etc but i worry all the time anyway!
i just feel i need to get away somewhere and someone has opened the avenue for me a rare one at that!0 -

From what you say about your illness, I would think that going abroad could be detrimental to your health!0 -

maybe but im claustrophobic and panicky alot of the time recently and its too much pressure on my head which is causing me more stress!0 -
Would it be wise to get on a plane if you're panicky and claustrophobic? I've only ever been on a plane twice and it was bad enough without having extra issues too.Sealed Pot Challenge #817 £50 banked

if that makes sense!0 -
In terms of your initial query I don't know how it'll affect your appeal. If you go abroad is someone coming with you?
In terms of whether you should go abroad at all I think you need to speak to your doctors/specialists to see they think it's a good idea.
Going away may be helpful but going abroad can be stressful and you run the risk of making yourself worse. If you find it difficult going to places you already know because people question your behaviour and you feel paranoid do you think you are going to cope in a place you don't know, don't speak the language and don't have people around you who know you?
Why not go away somewhere in the UK so you still get a break but you can easily get help if you need it?
Going abroad could be a long term goal for when you are feeling improved.
If you do go abroad make sure you get medical travel insurance which covers your current illnesses. It may be expensive but it's a very good idea to have in case you do get worse while away and need to come home.0 -
Get yourself to Scarborough for a fortnight, that'll sort you out.
Like all the others say, going through all the stress of going abroad is the last thing you need.
Would someone be going with you.make the most of it, we are only here for the weekend.
and we will never, ever return.0 -

yup some family members, family member that looks after me will be too!
i know people keep saying its stressful but everyday is stressful when you dont want to live and feel you would rather die..... i cant shake myself up!I have to say someone who is feeling panicky, claustrophobic, paranoid and depressed should definitely not be getting on a plane! Why not go somewhere in England?
ive tried that a while ago and i just hate it to be honest i live in a town and everything is so miserable in my mind, i basically 'want out' in my mind!0
