I have no idea abouot freezing them but thanks for the recipe..what a brill idea cooking them in stock! I assume just a couple of chicken oxo cubes would do?
I usually use an oxo veg cube for the stock as OH has turned veggie in the past 6mths. Normally I use one cube for the stock, but two will work too - actually I might try that next time and see how it adds to the flavour. In the past I've used whatever stock cubes I have had to hand, which I'm sure has included chicken, and has deff inlcuded an oxo 'indian' spices cube as well - happened to have them in the cupboard and had no idea what to use them for...actually turned out that it gave the chips a nice little kick
At present I also only have extra vigin olive oil to hand so I've been using this to coat the chips - Jamie O might suggest it's a bit frivilous, but actually it gives them quite a nice flavour.
As a comparison, we had these chips and breaded haddock for dinner last night with beans. It worked out at £1.40 for two people, verus the last trip to the chippy which was £18  and OH said the greasy fish from the chip shop made him feel icky last time.Feb 2015 NSD Challenge 8/12JAN NSD 11/16

This is no doubts a daft question (I'm an expert at those
) , but do you freeze after stage 3 of that recipie and do you then defrost them before doing stage 4 or just chuck in the frozen chips to the bag ?
Cheers0 -
Freeze after parboiling and cook from frozen. I use spray oil so sorry have no idea about oiling in the bag before freezing.Mama read so much about the dangers of drinking alcohol and eating chocolate that she immediately gave up reading.0

Ive made these recently and everyone loved them.
I cut them into a chip basket then boiled them for a few minutes - saves using a collander. I did a few squirts of spray oil in a bag then put the chips in ( do portion sizes then you can just remove one bag at a time) giving them a little shake - but not much or they break up. Seal the bag then freeze. Ready made portion of chips to cook.

Flat freeze on baking tray in freezer - when cooled down, then you can bag and tag them. Saves them getting all stuck together. You can then cook from frozen, depending on size of your chips/wedges, give them about 20-30 mins, turning as you would normally do for shop bought stuff.
Brilliant idea! Love it :T0 -
