From what I could read online about online shopping

"There are currently technical limitations which prevent us from being able to offer Sainsbury’s Brand Match to our online grocery customers. We understand how frustrating this is for online customers and we are looking in to solutions."

Strikes me as, people will go on mysupermarket and pin point all the offers to get bigger value vouchers. End of the day my internet groceries seem to go through a till as normal, I get a normal receipt with my order that appears to have been scanned through a checkout? So not sure why it's not possible.

Not sure why it cant be applied to online, it doesnt go through a till but its the same principle, as soon as i scan an item its added to the receipt and when the shop is complete its added up and then the customers card is charged(just a guess at how it works)

£20 minimum spend and vouchers are valid for 2 weeks according to the BBC article.

does teco still do the voucher matching thing? where they'll let you spend other shop's vouchers in their stores? because that oculd make sainsbury's idea backfire somewhat couldn't it?

Is it also possible to get these vouchers on self scan?

Great! :-) As I have a Sainsburys 2 minutes walk from the front door then I get the benefit of Tesco/ASDA prices without actually having to get there - both 20 odd mile round trips from areas in Bath.

Although, TBH, when I went into Sainsburys yesterday I noticed they had dropped alot of their own brand prices to match recent Tesco price drops...
  • Im quite interested in how this will work. For a while Sainsburys have been giving "catalina" print out coupons randomly but I notice these have tailed off lately, obviously now becuase they had this up their sleeves. Hopefully there will be a good few to womble on a blustery day and as usual Tesco will be accepting these in a blind panic of losing customers.

Im quite looking forward to this promotion. I think Asda has the most dignity in the price matching game though. They have not tinkered with or veered from their original claim, 10% cheaper or difference back (+ 10%) and heavily promoting it whereas Tesco's offering (double the difference back) went t*ts up quite quickly because of shoppers exploiting it. Sainsburys are quite new to the price match slanging match, wonder how they'll fare?
Love, through the trees, past the sky, beyond the northern lights; and I won't let go. May your soul and spirt fly sweetheart x

Yes as they have the voucher printers there. You will be surprised in the number of customers forgetting to pick these up. If a colleague sees these hanging out of the printer, we have to rip them up and bin them.

I got to laugh at this question on the FAQs

    • 30. I don't want to receive Sainsbury's Brand Match Coupon, can I opt out? Unfortunately, you are unable to opt out of Sainsbury’s Brand Match Coupon. If you do not want to accept the Coupon please ask the cashier to dispose of it for you.
Why would anyone turn down a voucher for money off their next shop? Obviously don't go on MSE.

Thanks. I'd noticed the coupon printer but don't think I've ever seen it printing before. Maybe I just didn't notice though

It apparently will be in use for online shopping at some point, its something to do with the software used.

LOL funny thing is we were told today "we couldnt tell you officially before today but from tomorrow there will be what we call brand match", i should have said its not a secret as it was in the grocer and its on the internet about it.
