I don't think anybody shops around 'for the sake of it' - what a silly comment.

I don't think so. I use it to decide which shop will give me best value overall for what need this week (use mySupermarket the same way). I don't have the time, energy nor the inclination to shlep round 2 or 3 supermarkets in a day - I'd end up suicidal - but if a store has a particularly good offer on something I'll buy anyway, I'll go there this time.

Anyway the cost of petrol means that I'll probably spend more travelling between stores than I'll save on a reduced or two.

So I think this automated price matching is a brilliant idea.
I try not to get too stressed out on the forum. I won't argue, i'll just leave a thread if you don't like what I say. :)

That's a reason to go into Sainsburys, although ours is tiny and pretty shiiite - we don't have a Mr T for 20 miles.

From Wednesday until 31st December all branded products bought in Sainsburys that are higher in price in Asda or Tesco will result in you recieving a voucher for the difference. So if you were to buy for example bells whiskey for 18.99 in sainsburys but at tesco its 15.99 you recieve a £3 voucher!!

    Happy shopping everyone

not really a promotion is it, its more a pricing strategy. Its called brand match, theres already a thread on here about it.

They trialed it over here in NI, and it's really good as you don't need to shop around. You don't have to waste time at CS or sitting on the computer entering receipt details either, it all happens at the till when you pay. You will either get a coupons to tell you how much you have saved or a coupon to spend in store. :j

Fantastic! - especially good for those in rural areas where many of the supermarkets are huge distances apart so shopping around isn't economical.

Also with the price of petrol going up all the bloody time, sometimes its cheaper to pay 60p more for an item than driving 30 min round trip.

I must find out if say for example if a customer bought 3 items which are more expensive than T or A, would they get 1 voucher for the combined differences or one for each item.

I'm assuming this probably won't apply with online shopping? Bit of a shame really as we only use Sainsburys, and would be good to get the benefits of this too.

  • Shame I don't buy (rarely) branded products from sainsbury's! normally buy there own brand or basics. yeah I'm cheap :D

If for instance you know that Tesco's had Kellogs cornflakes on BOGOF will this mean that Sainsbury's will match this or just match the single price? Somehow I can't see this happening....so it would still pay to shop around to get the offers. I suppose if it's a half price offer they'll match that?
My husband says he will leave me if I don't stop shopping......... God I will miss that man.
  • This is from the terms and conditions:

If you buy one bottle of Coca Cola 500ml at Sainsbury's for £1, and it is sold at Asda for £1, but is also on Buy One Get One Free at Asda, we will match the price paid in Sainsbury's against the single unit price at Asda (i.e. £1), not against the discounted price (50p). However, if you bought two bottles in Sainsbury's, we would match the promoted price at Asda, i.e. £1 for two bottles.

It looks like it will match BOGOFS etc. But I was in store today and there was no advertising and the lady on the CS desk didn't know what I was talking about. Is it def happening this Wednesday?
