Problems with cancelling O2/CPW contracts!
Comments

Hi, I have a big problem here too.
I took out a contract with e2save. It had to get sent to my old address because that's where my card is registered. No matter, I thought, because it's being sent by Royal Mail and I have a RM redirection service anyway.
RM didn't redirect and I had to go to the PO to collect it. No matter, I thought, because under distance selling regulations it's the date from which you receive the item that counts, not the date of attempted delivery. Otherwise you'd have no recourse if the PO lost something you ordered online. That sounds sensible.
So I cancelled within the 7 days *of receiving the item*. But e2save refuse to escalate me up the call chain on this, and just say I can put my complaint in writing. In the meantime I'm now tied into an annual contract.
RM says they don't pay compensation for things that weren't redelivered. I can't even get my money back for the fact that hardly ANY of my stuff has been redelivered, and nothing for 3 weeks.
Any thoughts/ help please?

This bunch of cowboys make me sick!!!!!!!!!
I called 3rd Jan to disconnect- wrote by recorded 1st class delivery 4th Jan and guess what- today I am told disconnection is on 16th Feb as "your letter was received by us on 16th Jan"- so basically I am on contract longer as they sat on the bloody letter for 10 extra days!!!!!!!
On top of that I had a call charges limit of £10 on the account. A bill has arrived for £100 of calls as my idiot relatives called India- am I protected? - am I !!!!!!!!- they say that the fact that it takes FOUR DAYS for the system to update means that any call limit is worthlessYou know what... you can't beat a good bargain!!!0 -

I would suggest anyone else take note if you need to cancel the cpw/o2 contact, i have just done this successfully by doing the following about 34 days prior to my contract coming up to the 12 month mark:- Calling o2/cpw on the 0800 0490049 (mon - fri office hours i believe) and get a DRN (Disconnect Reference Number)
- They will give you an address to write to (sent recorded), in my case it was:
Carphonewarehouse
PO Box 4316
Dunstable
LU5 5WG - I also sent (recorded) a copy of this letter addressed to:
Disconnections
1 Portal Way
London
W3 6RS
As thats what others had done in this thread: http://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/showthread.html?t=346821 - I wrote an email to customersupport@cpwplc.com I used the following text:"Please advise the address I must send a written confirmation of my intention to cancel an o2 line managed by CPW?"
and include your phone number / account number / name and address to confirm your identity. - I then got a call to confirm my emails and then letters followed to confirm my disconnections.
Also be sure if you ask to be disconnected, if you are offered a 400 off peak deal (for no cost) verify if it includes any itemised billing cost if you decide to take a new retention contract.

You'll be able to prove they had the letter earlier than the 16th so I'd be pushing them hard, as I said before give them a hard time and you should get there in the end.BargainHunter wrote:On top of that I had a call charges limit of £10 on the account. I'd be pushing them hard tooToyota - 'Always a better way', avoid buying Toyota.0 -
Unfortunately you will have to pay the call charges, its true regarding the limit, they will state that it is not an automatic feature they provide to manage call costs.. and yes they are right about the 4 (well its 2) day delay. This is the same with pure o2 (I manage an o2 business contract).

Hi,
Spoken to o2/cpw given the DRN but the postal address is different, first call
PAC request 1007, PO Box 345, Unit 19, Southampton, SO13 2NR & second time postcode SO30 2NR
Can anyone confirm correct postcode and if the above address is correct? I will defiantly send this my first class recorded.
What happens if you don’t give them 30days disconnection notice?
Many thanks0 -
