no...the one I got has over 100 full page engravings, each engraving could be possibly worth £5-£10 EACH alone. The one I have was published by CASSELL,PETTER, AND GALPIN
    similar to this one:

    http://www.bookfinder.com/search/?ac=sl&st=sl&qi=Lv50zRHAHCs0G,Eqs3QcoLSQJAI_7321742366_2:122:197

but mine is in very good condition, the one on bookfinder is only acceptable.

As we are all aware, the condition of a book (particularly rare/collectable ones) can swing the price massively.

As does the fact if it has a dust cover or not.Collectors want books in the best condition available, and will pay top dollar if a book ticks all/most of the boxes.

(In my opinion)it is worth paying £10.00 for 1 collectable book, than £5.00 for 50 paperbacks. But please remember, this is my feeling towards this subject, and I fully respect how other buyers go about their business.

Obviously if a bargain comes along and I can purchase items cheaper, then I will, but the old saying....

"you have to speculate to accumulate" could never be more true !

    Kind regards Bukup

  • Could I ask a question - it might sound dumb but I need help with a book!!

How do you know if a book is a first edition? If it is a first edition how would you price it?

I have a book which is notlisted on Amazon. I was about to list on EBAY but thought i would check it here first

    Inside it says
    First Edition MAy1955
    by Educational Productions Ltd
    London

The book title is Cricket -How to play. (from play the game series) and published for the MCC.

Inside are a couple of leaflets dating to early 1960's

ANy help would be much appreciated.

    Hi Christina

There is a small section in the 2nd post of this thread, it might help as it has a couple of links in it.
