if a book hasnt got an isbn and isnt listed on amazon or bookfinder how do you find how much its worth and what do you do with it

    thanks

    hmmmmmmmm!

as you haven't given details this advice can only be general.

You can search many of the more specialist book sites, such as ABE, Alibris, etc, using the author & title. The book should have some details of publisher/ date/ edition etc, which you can then use to match against copies shown on these sites.
If the title doesn't appear in search results search for the author and you may be able to compare other works/editions. If the author returns no results it's very possible it is a vanity publishing and worth nothing unless immeadiate friends family wish to purchase it.
As for worth, it's only worth what the buyer is willing to pay, bit like a piece of string really. Even if it is the only copy available anywhere there may only be a very limited market for it. If it is collectable, you will see other copies listed for sale, but that doesn't mean people will pay that price as they haven't sold, and very few places except ebay will let you research previous purchase prices.

author/publisher/title/year would be needed to give anything more than vague advice.

I made a big mistake last night.

I listed a book on amazon, having grabbed the isbn from the web, it sold overnight, but i have since realised that the isbn i listed was for the 1st edition, and mine is not. I have written to the buyer and offered a refund or lower price, so i will have to wait and hear back.

That'll teach me for being too lazy to check the book.

    Hi

I've just been going through one of these boxes in the vain hope something might be interesting and I've found this...

    http://www.amazon.co.uk/exec/obidos/ASIN/0099463903/203-4787634-2193509

Now I know people put silly prices up but i've checked on bookfinder and its the same

Any ideas (before I get too excited)

    Carter

I know I'm 24 hours late in picking this up, but I believe the author of this book, Terry Nation, had something to do with Blake 7 and Dr Who. It may be of interest to science fiction fans and therefore extra collectible. Great find.

irst thing I did was pasted the author and title into google

It gave me fantastic fiction (good little website) as the first in google rank, this turned up 2 copies, 1 in canada and one in austrailia, both £3.70.

Using the isbn given from FF - 0340108649 i checked amazon to find 1 seller, though amazon have it listed as a 1974 edition by coronet. also the authors details aren't correct, just showing surname. 1 seller for £5. suggest you list under this and correct the amazon listing to show correct publisher/year/author, also include publisher and year in description in case someone changes the listing back to a 1974 coronet.

scratch that about the coronet, there is a 1966 H&S edition on amazon ASIN: B0000CN6FL , they have it listed as a hardback, so make sure you make this clear in description. Currently no other copies for sale, be tempted to list under this at £14.99 or more if you feel lucky, at least this will return better results than the one with the incorrect author details!
