The new RE pub meal client brief is a bit strange. You must visit with at least one other person. You must buy one meal and one drink...then what, sit there sharing it?

The qualification questionnaire does say 'At least one meal' course that doesnt mean the reimbursement will cover two meals as most of them don't quite stretch that far (or is it just that my OH is bloomin expensive to feed and fails to understand concepts like eating out while doing an MS to save money overall?).
It’s not worth doing something unless someone, somewhere, would much rather you weren’t doing it.

Those dining visits that stipulate minimum numbers and orders yet don't offer a reimbursement to cover a minimum of 2 meals and drinks are just taking the P, especially considering the mark up these places put on food. I notice with that client you have to eat in what I am gussing is the most expensive part of the establishment as well. Apart from being out of pocket you then have to write a long winded report. Might be worth doing if it's a really special place but not a blinking pub chain!

I never bother with these pub ones after it's so specific what you have to order. I don't like the drinks they suggest and it's complicated enough, without not really being financially viable. Plus the complication of trying to get someone to go with you on the set date the assignment is due, no no no.

In other news, some lucky people are going to get a £300 rebate from the Taxman eh? Wonder if it's any of us?? :D

I can see me falling out with GAP really really soon. Can't say too much as I have unpaid time and effort to come, but GRRRR!

We have ALL had these kinds of issues with them, just hold your ground and look up the relevent bits of the MSPA guidlines etc. They tend to back down if you can find something to support you even slightly.

Been wondering how this can be considered ok under MRS guidelines. It seems they are forcing us to pay for the privilage of going to work effectivly...of course it makes for a great on-paper loss.

Thanks. I was really annoyed yesterday but I've calmed down now. I get a feeling that I will have to bite the bullet and take a loss on one job. It's taught me a lesson though, I have a plan for how to write-up future jobs for them. I will be staying seriously under the radar.

  • I'm very aware I have a gap-pizza job to do in a couple of hours. Incidentally, they're very lax at offering you their special deals. I've been missing out the past few times, I'm going to specifically ask for it today. I'm tacking it on to the end of my work day, not sure I really fancy a full on gap-pizza meal at 4.30pm in the afternoon but there we are... that's what the microwave is for later ;)

I did one today, it was a straight forward task, everything went well, I'd like more of these.
