  • I must admit, I've never felt unsafe on a test drive before now. But I did feel unsafe when I realised the engine was still running and he was putting the fuel in. I three of these visits and had to go to the petrol station on all of them. Is quite usual round here, even if its not company policy. On the last one, we were in the petrol station for nearly half an hour because the queues were so long.

I don't think I'd be overly impressed. I'm after a test run on a very expensive purchase, I don't want to waste my time sitting in a petrol station. That should be the salesperson's job to do on their own time between clients. Don't waste my time!

(getting in an empathetic consumer rage for something that hasn't happened to me.. lol)

I quite agree. But it seems to happen a lot here.

The worst one I had, the salesman who had initiated the conversation with me, had to go to another town to pick up a customer who was buying a brand new car. He got his colleague to take me on a very long test drive to cover the time he was going to be away! I was not impressed and its the only time I decided to cut a visit short. It was a video visit and I was worried that I would run out of storage (as well as not wanting a visit to last 2.5 hours). I told the guy on the test drive that I had a migraine and could we now go back to the salesroom.

I wouldn't have bought a car from them!

I've just been doing the report. It was a video visit and I must've started speaking to myself. You can hear a spooky whisper saying "OMG, he's left the engine on. Scary!" You can also hear me switching the heating off, leaving the unmistakeable hum of the engine!.

That speaks for itself then. No-one should ever leave the customer feeling uncomfortable, no matter scared. I would have felt exactly the same. I always turn the engine off, because there are big signs saying so, along with extinguish your cigarette.

Id be more concerned taking a taxi alone as a female over a test drive at a car dealership.

I would try not to do that either, unless it was a black cab, or a firm I know very well.

Do car dealerships not just give you the car to test drive, rather than coming with you? That was what happened to us last time. I had to leave my own car and keys with them, so I wasn't likely to do a runner!

I'd happily dump my falling apart car on a dealership in exchange for a new one hahahahaha

Yep, exactly. I always warn them about my left-right issues but there have been a few swerves across roads before now.

I must have done the best part of a hundred test drives now and have never felt uncomfortable so I wouldn't worry. In fact, OH never got to see the van until after I'd bought it and hasn't even driven my new car. He can't be asked so if I waited for him to come on test drives for our own vehicles, I'd be catching the bus.

I've also have had the cars fuelled up whilst out on a test drive.

For the one and only ms test-drive I've done, the salesman showed me round the car then handed me the keys and said to take the car off wherever you want, just be back in an hour. So I went off and did another job :D......

Just did a phone call for Helion. The chappy on the phone was perfectly nice and helpful, until it came to taking my details. Now, in an ordinary customer setting, I wouldn't want to give them my details. And, in this MS setting, I was specifically instructed to say no. And note whether they raised an objection. Which he did. THREE TIMES.

Sales dude: Shall I take some details?
Me: No thanks, I just wanted to get a price today, I'll give you a ring back later.
Sales dude: There's no committment, we can book it today and there's no charge, then you can ring back and cancel.
Me: No, it's really ok thanks, I need to check with my partner first and we'll give you a ring back.
Sales dude: If I just take your name now, I can give you a customer number and get you all set up on the system so when you ring back there's a record of our conversation.
Me: No, really, thank you, but no.
Sales dude: I could just take your name and email and get the details sent off to you now?
    Me: SJDYHJASHSAJHALKUYRUIEHREKJDBNASKJDNJAD *head explodes*

Seriously! NO MEANS NO. I wish there was an extra comments box on Helion where I could complain about that, after I've said no twice I MEAN no. Both because the assignment says so and because I don't want you endlessly emailing me special offers! Go away!

Alternatively, yeah you can have my email address, it's me@gotohell.com.

Anyone done a bowling job for RE since April? When I did one in April I was reimbursed for more than just me doing the bowling (took the children along) and looking at my payment schedule I got the full reimbursement of £Y. There's one at the moment that still has that reimbursement but you only get reimbursed for one player and the food. There's no way it would add up to that amount of reimbursement so was wondering if anyone has had more than one player paid for.

I can't imagine you would ever go bowling on your own (would look very obvious:rotfl:) so really you do need to take more people. So has anyone done bowling since April with more than one person and got reimbursed for any of them?

Email them separately, I know either Max or Ernst watch the boards around here so they get an idea of the ebb and flow of things, but I would drop them an email and make sure your disgust at this is mentioned to the end client.

I've had area managers come back to me on reports. Ended up closing a place down for 3 months as they had been lied to re health and safety stuff but it came up in my report. There was a 3 foot square hole in the floor in the gents...this was an issue lol
This was 6 months out of date so I've changed it.
