Anyone done the GFK merchandising jobs - how hard is the thing to put together? There's a couple near me I could do but given my lack of ability to put things together could imagine it taking rather longer than they suggest and getting rather stressed about it!
Hi kst101, I set up this stand the other day. The flat pack is easy enough to assemble but I have to admit that I did a 'practice run' in my living room first as, like you, I was worried about it (I did not want to start swearing whilst I was in the shop!). Just unfold the big piece first, slot the shelves in and add the other bits and pieces. The instructions are pretty good.
On this job, what took the most time was the fact that I had to look through the bakery shelves to get the stock as they had not had a specific delivery ready for me in the stockroom. So the whole job took more like an hour. Oh, the other thing is, I actually do not drive and had to stagger with the thing down to the shop. I would not recommend this as it is heavy and hard to hold for more than a few steps! Have fun!0 -

So, I was offered the test drive, but the car said it only had enough fuel to go 4 miles. We stopped at the garage to put petrol in - and the salesman put the petrol in while the engine was running. Was this safe? Would you mention it in the report?
Unsafe and not company policy to take a customer to the petrol station to begin with. Ive had this happen (not engine left on but refuelling) and I ALWAYS mention it.. plus he left you alone with the keys whilst he paid im assuming... not clever.0 -
I'm not sure it's totally safe for a female to go off alone for a test drive with a salesman anyway. Although it's only a tiny risk, I wouldn't feel very comfortable doing that myself.
When I buy a car I always take someone with me, doesn't work for mystery shopping though.0 -

I've done it myself a few times in real life, its the salesman who was at risk with me from my driving :rotfl:0 -

Really? I don't see any problem with this maybe because my husband is in teh car industry.
These guys go on 100000 test drives a day and really they are looking for a sale... not looking for time wasters as their wage depends on it. I wouldn't worry on a test drive honestly, they have to write down who they have in their car, where they are going etc.0 -

If you have a large enough car I suggest you put it together before you go. I did this as I am useless at flat packs and didn't want to make a fool of myself in the store.
Also be warned, mine took 1½ hours in the shop to do as I had to find the stock and basically there were only 2 items available to put on it. I think it is too early really as the stock has not yet been delivered. I had to negotiate with the grocery manager what else to put on it.
Good luck!0 -

Yep, exactly. I always warn them about my left-right issues but there have been a few swerves across roads before now.
I must have done the best part of a hundred test drives now and have never felt uncomfortable so I wouldn't worry. In fact, OH never got to see the van until after I'd bought it and hasn't even driven my new car. He can't be asked so if I waited for him to come on test drives for our own vehicles, I'd be catching the bus.
I've also have had the cars fuelled up whilst out on a test drive.0 -
I'd never go car shopping without my dad. He's like my car guru.0

Id be more concerned taking a taxi alone as a female over a test drive at a car dealership.0

I must admit, I've never felt unsafe on a test drive before now. But I did feel unsafe when I realised the engine was still running and he was putting the fuel in. I three of these visits and had to go to the petrol station on all of them. Is quite usual round here, even if its not company policy. On the last one, we were in the petrol station for nearly half an hour because the queues were so long.0
