Some shoppers travel around in the course of the day job or visiting friends family etc and some shoppers do this full time so make a circuit of shops to make it worth while. It may be that your more local jobs have already been taken so hopefully when the next wave comes up you will see more that are local to you.

The only thing which struck me about this one was that I couldn't see any way of limiting the area I'd be prepared to work in; every other company I've signed up for so far either lets you limit the search radius, or manually search for certain areas. But I can see that, if I were doing this full-time, I'd maybe be able to combine these jobs with other ones, although the other ones would have to be much more generously paid. :D

I like the RM reports, fairly easy and I used to do a lot with them when i started (i remember the great cookies too !) ive had free haircuts in department stores, did a few suits and posh shirts with them too, but the fees and work have been drying up and as such they are moved right down my list
i only get occasional Urgent text messages from them and have to say im disappointed that they cant offer a good fee if its that urgent,
i had a similar call from ims today to do an urgent visit tomorrow with the offer of a free pint of larger (i dont drink larger usually so no appeal but not necessary for the visit). ok they were offering mileage but the fee was rubbish and wouldnt cover my time driving there and back, the visit and the report. I said id be looking for 3-4 times that for amount for a visit on a saturday in that location, as thats my rate for the other 4 visits I have booked (admittedly audits not MS) and they couldnt even get beyond a couple of pounds.
Ive logged on tonight though and its gone so someone has clearly taken it... more fool them
unless they live on the road, its in the middle of the countryside and miles from anywhere else so they cant combine with any other visits.

The other thing with IMS is they expect us to dress up and then get down on our knees to re-arrange things. With the pittance they pay, it's not really worth it. I'm not getting a posh outfit on to get it ruined. Does everyone else get their shoes and trousers on? I much prefer the other merchandising company that shall not be named, you can wear what you want, so it's much more relaxed and the pay is much better too, and the staff are friendly unlike IMS!

I have worked for RM for about 6 years and have never once been offered extra mileage so Trevor you are definitely in the minority..do you live somewhere very remote with no other shoppers?! I never help them with last minute jobs unless I was going there anyway for this very reason. The only thing they ever offer me is other jobs in the area to make it worth my while going to wherever.

Well aren't I the golden RM boy :j The girls probably all have a photo of me on their desks :rotfl:
I have kind of got into the habit of calling them up on Monday mornings and telling them where I will be on certain days so maybe thats why I'm getting a fair amount of work from them.

Just done a report for REACT. My god, I think I broke the world record for MS narrative. So much narrative it took me an hour and a half. Horrible.
And then at the other end of the scale, a nice easy one for PiP but it won't let me submit it even though I've checked and checked.
Think I'll just email Kate and then it's her problem and get on with my eezypeezy ESA reports.

some briefs for the other company that cant be named ( i assume where you would be called an associate not staff member ?) , say you have to dress up ? well ones I do are, but if its covert stuff which the majority of their visits are, I agree I much prefer wearing what i want ;) that said, i dont get down on my knees for anyone... well at least not for a VERY big fee ;)
it really depends for the ims visits, if it involves liaising with management too, like my current calls, then ill dress up
when i was doing the healthy related visits, it was black polo shirt, combats and black trainers (smart but functional !)
As for pay, one or 2 jobs i agree, but if you get a good circuit and its only a quick visit, they can be good payers...plus they pay mileage !

No dude (if you are a dude, I don't know eeek!), it's IMS that always say you have to glam up. I once did a healthy Netherlands shop all dressed up to the max, came home with shoes all battered and dust all over my clothes, was not impressed! The other one which you correctly guessed allow you to wear anything which is what I prefer. I mean who the hell wants to get on the floor in posh shoes? Eeeek. Mileage for IMS is good, but not when nice clothes end up on the scrap heap.

Won't be long before someone topples you love. I used to be their golden boy not too long ago.

I've done the whole calling up regularly thing as well, wait till one of them has a bad day and then you will be put in your place. Hahahaha!
  • I have no experience of IMS, i signed up, got an e-mail about some shops, replied and never heard from them again! but i have seen there has been a bit of work from them from discussions on here.

Regarding company that cannot be named, i too like them now :) a few months ago i was complaining as i was only getting offered 1 job a month on a certain audit, now i am up to 3, have a regular mon/thurs gig and have been getting offers of others, but they are not really near me, i wear what i want, but most of the time it's office clothes, as i do it straight from work, i am loving them at the moment, got to be said. although, i have a feeling i am not their best associate, but i fair o.k, i do know there is other work, that i am not being offered, by others working there, still figuring out how i can deal with all of them and get a variety of jobs offered? any help appreciated.
