iPhone 4s

I've never owned or used an iPhone so I don't know if the below are common when upgrading the iPhone's OS...
Few reports of the iOS5 "bricking" some older iPhone4's
As well as other reports of the backup format changing so older backups don't seem to restore correctly! (i.e. things like contacts and personal files/images don't restore).
Also people are complaining that it's taking hours yo download and install the update (some reporting a wait of 4-6 hours between starting the update and it completing). This is probably due to the servers being hammered! But once the rush does down we'll see if their is any problems with the update and install speeds!Laters

To me Siri is just a gimmick.
Like many, i was sceptical of Siri but having used it for a day on my 4S its pretty amazing. Sure its not perfect but its a lot better than what's been out there previously re: voice control. And it can only get better with firmware updates;)

What are you talking about?
Apple are selling more and more iPhones every year.
Why aren't they selling more Apple TVs? What about iPods? Why are most people still using PCs? The 'fanbois' buy anything with an Apple logo, right?
Your argument is ridiculous and stupid.
Apple are doing just fine without your business advice.Hope over Fear. #VoteYes0 -
Why not import a 4s from one of the 13 EU countries where it is illegal to sell a phone locked to a provider ?. No expensive contract with prices set by Apple to worry about, no fixed-in for 2 years.
Everywhere I look, the data allowance on contracts for Apple phones/pads is less than for non-Apple stuff, but costs more.
If I save enough to buy myself an Iphone 4s, I will not be signing up to a contract, but will instead use my '3' sim from my phone.Never Knowingly Understood.

I've nothing against apple, in fact I'm typing this on a macbook right now. I still stand behind my statement though - Apple fanbios will buy any old carp with an apple logo on it.
I honestly believe the iPhone is a triumph of style over substance. Obviously that works well as apple have had a lot of success with the iphone but there are things about Apple which aren't that great:
1) IMO the apple interface isn't that good because you cant have widgets so you have to click on an app to launch it (just personal preference of course).
2) Why do apple persist with their stupid airplay standard when just about everyone else is using DLNA? I suppose its not a problem for Apple fanbois who have apple everything but for the rest of us a bit of interoperability with devices from other brands would go a long way. It annoys me that my macbook doesn't have native support toe DLNA too.
3) Sticking with standards why do apple stick with their proprietary standards for music? When I buy something from iTunes it will work with apple products but not with anything else - this is a bit of a problem when I'd like to play my music in the car or on other devices.
Its difficult to buy an apple device without being sucked into the whole apple eco system. My point is just that a lot of people realise this so stay away.0 -
