  • 476 days to go!! Or not, as the case may be :o Lots of things going on at work so I am really not sure what is going to happen over the next couple of weeks, but I do know that by the middle of September, I will have an answer....

Another £1300 to the mortgage today bringing the total to sub 33k :j Hopefully, the big bucks towards it will be able to keep coming for a while but if the worst happens, I should at least get another two months of it before I have to completely change the plans ;)

I have an easy weekend ahead and I can't begin to describe how happy I am that it is a three day weekend....I am totally knack*red at the moment - really need the chance to have some total relaxation and a chance to re-charge my batteries - plenty of slobbing ahead of me!! :D

Not sure what is happening with the grocery budget (again!!:o) but I will sort that tomorrow along with some meal plans for the week...

Anyhoo....hope you all have a fab bank holiday weekend...let's enjoy it while we can!!:D

    Helloooo

Am hoping to start a MFW diary in the near future - I know you often lurked on my diary and I didnt even realise you were over 'here'.

You have done amazingly well on your overpayments. I hope some of your determination rubs off on me. :D

How is the healthy eating thing going? I really need to do something like that but perhaps just start by cutting out a few things - I am dreadful with food :o

Also hoping for a slobbing weekend as for once no horsey things on and too am kn*cker'd.

    Have a good one.

I don't think you need determination from anyone LAM....I've seen how well you have done with destroying your debt!! :T

I must confess, it has gone to poo!! :o I have had a really busy few weeks and just haven't been mentally in the right place to put in the effort required - however, by October, I will be in a better place and will be able to give it the attention it deserves ;)

I have had a fab bh weekend so far.....Saturday, I did nothing - absolutely nothing at all (only got out of my jammies to have a shower and then got into another pair afterwards!! ;)), yesterday I pottered in the garden and did a bit of harvesting, planting and tidying with a glass or two of wine in my hand and today, I am going to have a quick swish around the house before settling down on the sofa when the rain comes with a bottle of something sparkly and a couple of operas I have recorded :D I do love three day weekends!!

Anyhoo....latte calls - hope everyone has a lovely day! :D

  • IC2D your weekend sounds amazing; I'm starting to wonder if we were separated at birth. Pyjamas and diet gone to poo sounds eerily familiar!

Hope work things 'work out' ok for you. Uncertainty is rubbish! I know you'll meet your goals tho coz you are doing amazingly well with the overpayments. Sub 33k must be a good feeling :) x

Perhaps we were!! ;) So far today, pretty similar situation to last Saturday- another jammie day doing nothing...lush!! :D

Thanks both of you for cheering me on :D It is nice to see it coming down but I will be happier when it starts with a 2!! ;)

Job wise, I still have a couple of weeks before I know what is happening, but I have come to the conclusion that I no longer care....whatever goes on, I will make my plans when the decision is made - no point in spending the next two weeks speculating and working out all possible scenarios...its a waste of energy and time :wall:

Instead , I have decided that it will be a Super September - here's the cunning plan....-

Financially, I have a birthday to do, but apart from that, I need to get back on the wagon big time :o This past couple of weeks, I have spent huge amounts on alcohol, have bought lunches out and have generally lost the plot!! Started smoking again too which doesn't help - I would say that it is all due to the stresses of work but that's just a poor excuse for being self-indulgent and behaving like a spoilt brat!! Must do better!! ;)

I'm going to do a food inventory tomorrow and get some meal plans done so that I have stuff to take in for lunch - normally I am on the road though, so need to make sure that I can make stuff that is quick to eat and doesn't necessarily need re-heating  Perhaps I can make a curry, roasted tomatoes and do some salmon next week - all of those are lush cold and I can scoff them pretty quickly!! :D Might have to buy a bib though if I am eating them in my car!! :rotfl:

Physically, August didn't work out on the healthy front, so I am going to give it another go for September - I really need to sort myself out as I am starting to look haggard - lots of rubbish eaten, alcohol drunk and lack of sleep is doing me no favours at all - honestly, at my age you would think I would know better, but I guess in my head I am still in my twenties and think that it takes no effort at all to look okay!! :o I need to improve my diet, get in some exercise and start looking after myself properly. That includes doing all the 'girly' stuff that I tend to try to avoid....hair care, skin care, polishing, buffing etc so that I can start to look like a human again as opposed to an overweight Egyptian mummy!!

So, my 'rest of the day' plans are to have a long hot shower, do a hair and body treatment and then slob with intent this evening....a good ease-in to the Super September....don't want to burn myself out at the beginning!! ;):rotfl::rotfl::rotfl:

    Have a fab weekend!:D

  • 466 days to go!

Put another £100 to the mortgage this weekend....and by tomorrow, another £650 will have come off it! :j

I have checked my electricity bill over the weekend and am currently in credit by over £100....not sure if I should cash that in and put it to the mortgage or whether to just leave it where it is for the time being and see what is there at the end of the winter  I will consider it over the next day or so and then make my decision - I am tempted to just put it to the mortgage but I don't want them whacking up my payment if I use more...oh the dilemmas!! :o

I have done my meal plans for the next few weeks using what I currently have in the house....I should only need some red onions, potatoes and milk this week so that will help the shopping bill somewhat!! :D

I made job lots of green tomato chutney yesterday which I will use over the winter - I love topping hm potato cakes with spinach/greens, chickpeas and a sweet chutney...total winter comfort food in a bowl ;) I also love lentil dhal and rice with chutney so no fear of it not being used pretty quickly!!

I am going to get a sack of potatoes this week - now that the weather has started to turn, I will be making a lot more casseroles and autumn/winter dishes (so will not end up wasting them or having to turn them into 'poor mans brandy' like I had to with the last sack! :o )

Haven't done much wine making recently so intend to get my elderberries gathered this weekend as they are looking ready now....just hope the weather is okay for it and that I remember to wear gloves - forgot last time and looked like a serial killer by the end of it!! :rotfl:

    Have a fab Monday!!:D

  • Doom and gloom time (well, some of it!!) - tune out now if you want!! ;)

Things have changed dramatically over the last couple of weeks so the plans I had for the future are no longer valid :(

I don't know what work has planned for me but I have made the decision that I will be going back to part time at the end of the month and will start looking for another job which means that the whole mortgage pay off thing will have to go on hold for the time being :o

It sounds foolish, but I have felt a bit lost over the past few weeks and I feel that the best way to regain myself is by taking this course of action. Although I feel conflicted over the choice, I think that in the long run, it will be the best thing for me.

Paying off the mortgage in a year is not worth the aggravation that I am currently experiencing and I am so out of control of life outside of work it is keeping me up at night...having the balance back and sorting myself out will put me in a better mental position - even if the financial one will be poorer! _pale_

I will still be able to overpay the mortgage, just not at the rates that I currently do - I am pleased with the progress I have made to date but it is just not worth keeping going with it and spending the next 15 months miserable. Life is too short and I want to be able to enjoy the journey - not dread every moment of it! :wall:

I have three weeks left to get everything at work up to date so that I can manage the job on the three days; I am going to spend at least two days in the office the week after next to catch up with stuff and then put mechanisms in place to be able to keep it all organised. I am looking forward to not feeling that I have to carry the department anymore - it will be down to other people to take responsibility for their own work again!

I am really looking forward to getting myself back to where I want to be - I am going to spend time with my puppies, get my house to the standard I want it to be, start getting the food organised and improving my mental and physical health. :D It's a departure from my current lifestyle that I am actually very ready for!!

Have a fab weekend....I'll go and catch up with other peoples diaries now!! :D

Not doom and gloom at all - very positive, and your hard work so far has meant you can take this step back with confidence - well done
A positive attitude may not solve all your problems, but it will annoy enough people to make it worth the effort

Of course you must not feel bad. Its all about quality of life too.

You have done amazingly well at what you have paid off which hopefully in a way has partly enabled you to be able to go part time. Enjoy your time with puppies :D and having some 'me' time. YOLO x
