Great overpayment. I'm happy as I've made an extra sneaky OP of £200.

Great to hear everything is going well on the overpayment front. But what I have always meant to ask is about your wine making exploits. Sounds like something I should become an expert in. Are you using kits? I must admit, prefer my wine to be white and sweet...
Still striving to be mortgage free before I get to a point I can't enjoy it.

Ok, I admit I am one of those people who you would stare aghast at in a restaurant, because I have been known to add sugar to my wine, at the table!! Shock horror! So many places don't know what a good pudding wine should be, and assume that everyone would only wish to drink it with a pudding.

    Or, perhaps I am strange.

TVP - textured vegetable protein. Predominantly made from soya, its a dried fake meat substitute. Comes in 'mince' and chunks and needs to be rehydrated prior to using in a dish. When I was vegan, I used it all the time for Bolognese and lasagne dishes along with shepherds pie etc but when I re-introduced meat into the house, the kids started to object to it and I had loads left over. No complaints when I used a combo of it this week though, so will continue to 'pad' out meat with it!! ;)

White & sweet = parsnip wine!! It makes an incredibly potent but beautiful dessert wine and I love it lots!! The beauty of making your own wine is that you can make whatever you want and have both sweet, dry or dessert, change flavours, blend etc....the down side is waiting for it to be ready!!:(

I make a mixture of veg/fruit/berry wines, but also use the 7 day, 30 bottle kits to ensure a constant supply as I have only really got back into making my own over the past year and am still waiting for those to mature.... hopefully, in the next couple of years I will build my stocks up sufficiently to enable it just to be a couple of kits a year and the rest from my 'proper' wines, but with the amount we go through, I'm not convinced!!:rotfl:

I am slowly clearing out my spare room at the moment with a view to having it as my wine room....that way I can have as many on the go as I want! ;)

  • I'll make sure I've got some in then gally! ;)

Spent more than intended this morning....decided that I can't wait for the peanuts to turn up as I have quite a lot of young squirrels at the moment, so have bought a 4kg bag to see me through the next few days :o Also woke up to see that my bird box has finally given up the ghost after about 10 years so bought a new one of those too!! All came out of the grocery budget though, so not too bad ;)

Weather is atrocious here....which makes the fact that my tumble dryer decided to give up the ghost today a bit annoying!! On the plus side, it's just the heating element that has died so have ordered one on line and hope to have it by the middle of next week....just need to find somewhere to hang all the wet washing now where it won't end up getting covered in dog hair!!! :D

  • Excellent day....boss pulled me in today and asked if I wanted to go full-time!!!:j:j:j It will make a real difference to my MF mission - not sure if it will be on the fixed term condition still or if it will mean a permanent contract as we still have to discuss the detail, but either way it's a massive leap in the right direction!:D

I am totally thrilled, I absolutely love the job, the organisation and think my boss is fab so to be able to go full time will just be the icing on the cake! :D

Treated myself to a bottle of sparkly tonight to celebrate....drinking it on my own though as ds & dd are at respective partners and dh away for work...nomnom, more wine for me!!!;):rotfl:
