    Hi,jill36

Amilucky referred to refcontrol for Fire fox

I've tried some of the techie ways but now just drag the comp link to a new tab.Or you could C&P the comp link to a new tab.Personally I do not worry too much.Comping portals are so big atm the promotors must be used to them.
Up to each of us in the end though.

Good idea. As an interim, posters are asked to add 'Effort' to comps like that so maybe you could do a daily search (setting it to show results for 'yesterday' or 'since your last visit') for the word 'Effort' in the title.
    2017 Wins: £200 (Total since 2008: £43,827!)
Best wins: £5000 with ITV , Trips to New York fashion week/Malta/Lake Como/Paris/London/St Mellion spa, iPhones, iPad, TVs, vouchers
    May-Oct: 0 Nov: £200.10
  • Unfortunately not everyone knows to add "effort" to the title - I've just come across two effort comps ending tomorrow that weren't marked :(

  • Hi
    Got the Comping bug again.
Many years ago, used to subscribe to the Competitors Companion Magazine.
My knowledge is rather limited and hoping someone can help me out with a few queries (my apologies if all this information is on other threads):

    1. Which Comping Sites are recommended and is it worthwhile subscribing to any (i.e. yearly payment)
I have bookmarked: Competitors Companion, The Prize Finder, Competitions Today, Competitions Time & Competition Hunter ?
Not sure about: UKCompetitions & Loquax
Discounted: MyOffers & ResearchOpinionPoll (after joining up)

    2. Little bit worried about having to give out my Mobile No. but have done so on quite a few entries.
Will I get lots of 'Sales Calls' (I have registered my mobile with the Telephone Preference Service)

    3. I appreciate that there are ways of Tracking entries on each Competitions Website, but how do I log entries to ALL Competitons ?
Was thinking of creating a Simple Spreadsheet, but feel sure there must be a little progam somewhere that would do this.

    4. Is there any other important advice I need. I am a Novice at this 'modern comping'

Many thanks and I hope this has worked (My first post on MSE !)

Quick question re: Twitter comps. Is it a good idea to tweet a company that's run a twitter comp after the closing date to ask if they've picked a winner yet? I entered this comp and they haven't yet tweeted anything about the winner - I'd love to ask, but I wonder if I did that, would it ruin my chances as I'd come off as pushy?
    2015 comp wins - £370.25
Recent wins: gym class, baby stuff
Thanks to everyone who posts freebies and comps! :j

You will get some sales calls but it's a side-effect, I'm afraid. You can get a payg sim and use it solely for comping

    3. I appreciate that there are ways of Tracking entries on each Competitions Website, but how do I log entries to ALL Competitons ?

If you hit the thanks button each time, you can track which comps you've entered ;)

    4. Is there any other important advice I need.

    Good luck ;)

This is the only comp site you're likely to need :T
I've used my mobile number for the past year and have only had one sales call on it. So it shouldn't be an issue. If you are worried why not buy a really cheap PAYG mobile and just use that for comping. ( I bought one for £10.01 with £10 top up included!!!)

I track my entries by putting them all in a spreadsheet. Page for web / twitter/FB.

A good start is to read this thread: https://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/discussion/1014121

For FB and Twitter then Competition Club is good source of knowledge.

LAst bit of important advice - treat it as a hobby, if you win it's a bonus! Oh and have fun :rotfl:

UPDATE Doh! just realised that Matryoshka's update is answering the query too... Sorry!!
Thanks to those that post the comps!!

I would be inclined to ask them. In fact, I did just that with one competition today. If you don't win, then you will never know if they deliberately didn't pick you because they thought you were pushy, however, so long as you are polite, I don't really see why they should object.
