Mandatory bundle is actually remaining for the time being. The requirement will be removed soon though.

Why the big fuss anyway? Why have an iPhone without a data package? What's the point?
I spent 25 years in the mobile industry, from 1994 to 2019. Worked for indies as well as the big networks, in their stores also in contact centres. I also hold a degree in telecoms engineering so I like to think I know what I’m talking about 😂

Well most consumers dont want to pay a premium montly ontop of the premium cost of the handset...moreso when apple are getting a nice cut of the monthly bill.
SO... now England its the Scots turn to say dont leave the UK, stay in Europe with us in the UK, dont let the tories fool you like they did us with empty lies... You will be leaving the UK aswell as Europe ;)

Because some customers on Orange are perfectly happy with their current tariff [which includes data] and want to use this existing tariff with an iPhone, but need a microSIM to do this.

There should be no additional reason to pay £10 extra a month *just* to obtain a microSIM/for using an iPhone, which is what Orange seem to be requesting.

Also more and more phones will be using microSIM this year.
For example if you want the xperia s on the 5th March when it is released you will need a microSIM.
That is definately not an iPhone.

I expect that most phones will be using microSIMs before too long. I remember in the early 1990s when full credit card sized SIM cards were the norm, and when more phones subsequently started needing miniSIMs, people cut them using SIM cutters. The same thing is happening again when space inside phones is at even more of a premium.
