Surely I must be missing something here.......The bb connection upstairs splits into two ie. one for the bb and one for the tv
now I would have thought I would be able to do the same somehow downstairs at the connection point to the tv?0 -

you mean the feed to the cable 'TV' box?
thats no good to you
I assume you have upstairs
cable to the VM wall box
then a feed to the cable TV box and a feed to the cable router
then another feed going downstairs to the VM TV box downstairs?0 -
I have a feed downstairs to the Virgin box, a feed upstairs to the PC which splits into a second feed to the upstairs Virgin box.0

Virgin cable box on the outside wall downstairs which then goes inside to the virgin cable box downstairs and then to the downstairs tv.
From the outside cable box runs a cable upstairs to an inside box. From this inside box runs a cable to an upstairs virgin cable
box then to a tv, plus also from the upstairs inside box runs a cable to the modem and then to the router then the pc.0 -

and thats where you gets your internets
so you need to get the internets from there to wherever its needs to get to
in your case the Bluray player
s it depends on your preference/funds/set up
I dont know about splicing into VM hardware(and wouldnt recommend it)0 -
Right back to basics, could you tell me how your set up is hooked up to your box tv etc?0

I think I've finally got it now !!!! So because the pc is upstairs next to the modem and the tv downstairs,
wherever I move the modem to I will need a long ethernet cable because of the distance between the two?0 -

my modem/router etc are only feet from the TV
so its an Ethernet cable.I dont actually use the TV features as I have a media PC for the TV feed
you can use a long cable, homeplugs, wireless bridge
however as i said I would move the BR player upstairs to test its features are what you need/want before spending money0
