Advice please on how to get the internet on a HD TV for the likes of youtube etc.I have Virgin broadband, TV and phone and a HD TV which when I scroll down the input menu it shows PC as an input choice. The Virgin installation is downstairs on he outside wall and the TV is about 5 feet away inside, the PC is run through a separate cable upstairs . I also have a wireless router for my daughters laptop. The advice I need is how and what would I need to do to link the internet to the TV which I believe is possible. Thanks in anticipation.

What's the exact make and model of HDTV?
The PC input is almost certainly just the computer monitor function of the tv i.e. you can connect your tv to a PC or laptop using a VGA cable and use the tv as an additional computer screen, that's all.
If your tv was DLNA compatible then that might take you a step closer to easy Youtube on your tv.
I have a cheapish Sony which plugs into my router and on which I can browse directly in YouTube or BBC iPlayer for example.0 -
I knew I should have kept the box!!!!!! All I know is that is a 38 inch Samsung that was purchased about 1 year ago from Argos. I'll try and find the receipt if that helps.0

I can't get a picture on my hoover either:p
Wrong receipt/manual! Grab the other Samsung one in the drawer
Or can you read the label on the back (careful you don't do yourself any injury!)
Or if you can enter the Menu when the tv is on and find a heading called 'System Information' or similar it might tell you the model.
Specifically on the internet front, if there is an RJ45 socket on the back for an ethernet patch cable (same as the sockets on the back of the router) then that's a good clue that it may have been designed for internet connectivity. If it doesn't have one then that basically suggests it isn't for internet.0 -
I have a Samsung 43" plasma & the PC input on that is so you can connect a pc & use the tv as a monitor,I also have a USB slot to which I can connect an external HD or memory stick so I'd assume it's the same for the OP's TV.0

A lot of Blu ray players include internet access, my Samsung has Youtube/ and the BBC iPlayer along with a load of fairly useless apps, or you could use a Wii.That gum you like is coming back in style.0

Yeah you guessed it..........wrong receipt!!!!! Anyway it's a LE37C530FIW. Also I have a blu-ray player hooked up if that helps.0

So whats the bluray player then?
As above if its got an RJ45 ethernet port on it chances are its internet enabled. That gum you like is coming back in style.0 -
