  • Wow those mitts are lovely Dizzy. £25 good but will it last half a week? Does being a vegan make food more expensive?

  • Thanks KP. Doing them keeps me out of mischief :) Hopefully I'm not going to spend any more on food except bread until next week when I'm going to do a menu on Sunday and shop for it.
There are 5 of us here 3 meat eaters, a vegetarian and me a vegan. You can imagine mealtimes are a bit chaotic. I think it probably does cost more. Not for me as a vegan although if I want icecream and chocolate etc it is dearer, but DD who is vegetarian eats a lot of quorn so that has to be bought. Luckily though the boys eat it as well :) OH tends to buy a little meat in for sandwiches etc but they generally eat vegetarian. So I'd say yes probably it does cost more, but couldn't tell you how much overall if I was just buying food for one diet as in if we all ate the same food.
Have popped into town today with OH whilst he's still on holiday and bought two crochet hooks at £1.98, wool £1.80, a scrapbooking for dummies book from oxfam for only £1.99 (great bargain), an oxfam calendar reduced to £2.00, a little fairy keyring reduced to £1.24, bubblewrap £1.00, Gok Wan book for DD from poundland for ...£1.00 :) Think that's all. A bit of a spend really but aside from the two things for DD the others were stuff I planned to get. Honest ;) OH bought the usual bird feed and holders...think he's addicted to it, though it is lovely when you see the birds in the garden.
Just had two slices of the baklava as well...
Right off to have a soak in a gorgeous Lush olive scented bath.
    Hope y'all okay :)

    Enjoy your bath..it sounds lush
  • I'm back...oh it was Taxi. Though I had it running whilst still on here with OH saying, ''go and get your bath, you've ran it now,'' as they do. Think I'm getting obsessed with my diary now but I'm finding it really helps to keep me in check and if I post 'unwise' spends on here I know Taxi and KP will tell me off, so I'm hoping it will help to keep me on the straight and narrow :)
We've got tickets tomorrow to a pub we've been in a few times before for quiznights etc, it's nice and cosy with mixed ages but mainly our age and not 'loud youngsters music' Crikey I sound older than my 40 odd years. So we're looking forward to that. Tickets were £10 each which isn't too bad and includes food but I doubt it will be suitable for me but I'll give mine to OH and I'll have something to eat before we go. I won't be drinking either, never do on New Years Eve just in case any of the children need picking up, so I'll be driving. I sound really boring don't I, but to be honest alcohol tends to make me sleepy.
Well everyone's in safe and sound so I think I might have an early night, I'll still be on here in half an hour, I've been going to bed in the early hours and I think it's beginning to tell on me.
Something good for today was that I resisted buying anything new to wear for tomorrow as I have some nice outfits that I've barely worn so thought I'd save some money. See, my 'spendwise journey' is working already :)

Well done on sticking to using something out of the wardrobe.
£10 sounds very reasonable for NYE especially with food included
  • Not bad that is it Taxi? If you lived closer you would have been more than welcome to join us :)
Must get off here now or before I know it it'll be 3 o'clock!
Catch you tomorrow Taxi. Take care :A

Hope everyone is having/had a lovely New Years day. We don't do anything special for it here, just relaxing, watching tv etc.
Last night was great, music was a tad too loud though for us. :)
Had a dance, a great catch up and to boost won a Jack Daniels cowboy hat  and a t shirt :) Dropped friends off about 4am. Had to crawl back into bed at tea time though I was so tired.
I've made a little bit of a list on what I want to do/continue to do this year so will post that up at some stage.
So love luck happiness and wealth to all for 2011

Have joined the frugal living thread if it's not too late, either way I'll be posting on there as well as my diary.
Have had my first NSD today on the first day of the new year, hope that's a good sign.
