Not long got home. Was sitting here last night absolutely bored watching rubbish on TV when J turned up. Ended up having quite and enjoyable evening and he stayed :) put kids off to school this morning and we've been out mooching around all the shops in town this today. Have not bought a thing but the weather was nice so we made the most of it.

Feeling much more chilled out. Am really tired and hoping for an early night tonight if possible!
  • What a lovely surprise...:D
Pleased you've been taking it easy too. I've just been on trivia quiz sight which has hundreds of online quizzes on from ancient civilizations to tv. Has kept me entertained for a while and I may have learned something!! I also do online english language quizzes, I'm better at these. You could always try that when you're bored. It's just a bit of fun and keeps the brain cell(s) happy.
    Have a good Thursday hun.

    !!!!!!!! A month tomorrow since I updated !!!!!!!!!!!

Well what can I say. Most of what's been happening you guys know about anyway on your diaries, and not much happening anyway. But I have made a decision and taken action to clear my overdraft.
Today I did a money transfer for 0% for 16 months. This will then be added onto my sig. So it will clear the overdraft, visually, at least, and then I will just pay it off asap. I've tried so hard to just spend less out of the bank and I can't do it. This way I know it works for me, like it did last year, with the Natwest and More card. Just couldn't get rid of this blimming overdraft! Nevermind. I feel now that I'm doing something positive at least.
Will add to sig. once it's all gone through.
    Hope everyone's okay.

  • Well done on the positive move with the OD Diz, I know you've had problems clearing it, OD's are the worst aren't they. Had one years ago and hated it. Once I cleared it I never had another one.

I've got great faith in the fact that you can clear it ASAP. It can be your challenge for 2009 :)
  • Tar hun. I feel like I'm actually doing something about it now at least.
Must call in the bank and get it lowered then at least it can't get sky high again. In theory!

  • Okay...here I am again. I'm quite excited at the prospect of starting 2009 with a few plans in my head.
Tonight I'm going to list some stuff on ebay, but I'm not going to do it willy nilly as usual. I'm going to write down what I've listed, cross off when sold etc. Just going to be a bit more methodical in my approach to all my money saving challenges/plans etc. rather than my usual slap dash ways.
Today OH and I went into town and bought a few bits and bobs in the sale. Not much really but to be honest I don't really want anything, apart from my wooden floor! But we've decided now that we could do with a new fire and surround and new skirting boards, I want those high ones this time, so that will all have to be done at the same time. And will cost a lot more...but I did get a new carpet instead whilst we're saving for a wooden floor because I couldn't stand the old carpet any longer. Was a patterened wilton and I was desperate for a plain one so we had a new chocolate colour one fitted last week. Really lovely and goes well with the decor.
OH, DD, DS, GD and myself went to the Christmas markets in town were I had two bags of chestnuts and 3 cups of mulled wine... lovely.
Had a lovely Christmas day, OH's son, partner and GD who will be 2 in January came for Christmas breakfast and for dinner SIL came. I made myself a lovely chestnuts in puff pastry parcel with a red wine sauce, gorgeous!
We've got friends coming here for New Years Eve, we take it in turns at each others houses and aside from that nothing else planned. Really enjoying my time off. Oh and I've had a mass declutter in my bedroom. Can't believe how ruthless I was! Two huge bin liners. A lot were clothes in really good condition that I just didn't wear anymore so they went to charity. Also a cd player that had lived on the landing for goodness knows how long so I'm afraid that went too! And my electronic weighing scales that were just in the way. We also have a mini trampoline that no one goes on so that's at the charity shop tomorrow :D
I also crocheted a lovely pink scarf with lilac flowers on for GD.
Can't think of anything else to update with................no still can't. Oh there is something actually. At the moment I'm loving making myself chinese stir fries like cashew and pineapple dishes etc and today whilst we were out I saw this lovely chinese 'lucky drum' only a small thing that you twist and two beads on either side hit the drum part, anyway it's decorated with chinese children playing various games and I was really drawn to it, so bought it and it was only £1 :rotfl: If I was reading this diary I think the word 'fruitcake' would come to mind!
Anyway, hope everyone is well, happy and keeping warm in what has been forecast a very cold week.
Off to photo for ebay, I hate that part and the uploading, in fact all of it really!
    Keep well everyone.

  • Glad to hear you had a lovely xmas too. New year eve sounds like it should be fun as well. I know what you mean about being slapdash I either try to be too organised and get nowt done or just do what I need to as quickly as possible but not always the best. I need to find a middle ground.

Well done on the decluttering. I was planning to declutter out bedroom today so will make that tomorrows plan. Cant fit anymore into my wardrobe and half of that I cant fit into anymore :o .

    May 2013 new beginnings:j
  • Hiya KP :D
I really do recommend you declutter that wardrobe. The feeling you get after is soooo good. All in all I did my wardrobe, my chest of drawers and a set of 5 drawers (though smaller) that I keep my art paints, pastels, sketch pads some stationary and personal papers etc in, so a really jumble of stuff!
Just got to get OH to do his half now! The problem is when he's off work he'll say, I'm having a break, it's my time off etc and then when he's back at work it's, I'm at work now, I've no time. Blokes eh?!
Good luck tomorrow with the declutter, be brutal.

Just to add I have re-listed one item in ebay up to now and taken, ooh let me think, how many photos.......oh that's right I remember, NONE!

  • Hiya, I'm a real newbie so be gentle with me. Have just been reading your diaries, so good. I love to hear how people are doing and seeing them get on. Also the hints, it's inspiring me. Have really worked hard and got my debts down now to just £659 on a catalogue. Have savings of £500 in ISA but dont pay interest on club so just keep paying it off monthly. ( is that the way to do it?) Am really enjoying taking part in OS and getting all the ideas. Love your diary, keep going and keep helping me with ideas. Hope everyone has had a good christmas. PS what does sigmeen?
