  • Your right about the weather Diz, it's freezing. I've had to put the heating on today and to be honest with you I'm still cold. Will have to get the cardigan out and pop some socks on!

I failed to post my parcels today. DD was supposed to be cooking in school tomorrow so the plan was to go out for some ingredients and post the parcels on the way. She's come home from school and cookery tomorrow is cancelled so I didn't bother going out. If I had, I would only have spent money and I'm trying hard to save as much as I can in case I go away!
  • Well that didn't last long. DD wanted a hairdye, pasta, tomatoes etc to do her lunches with and OH wrote me a little list...grand total £22.13p!!!!!!!
That's it now, aside from maybe bread from the corner shop I am not going to asda again this week. In fact a new morrisons has opened up, about the same distance away as asda, so may try there at the weekend. Better update overdraft sig. Never has it been this high after payday. But I don't regret not working Fridays anymore...yet :D

  • I'm fed up!!!!! Overdraft is horrendous but I don't want to transfer any money into it to get it down because I think that will give me carte blanche to spend more. I just don't know what to do for the best.
Bought DD some jeans yesterday, G star raw and they were £80. But she did want me to pay for her to go to the gym so I guess this works out cheaper. Ebay has been costing a fortune to post but I have to remember that that's paid for, just in a different account!
On a positive note we went to see The Moody Blues last night and they were superb. Was in work today though and felt like a zombie. I can have a little lie-in tomorrow though but having granddaughter tomorrow so won't be a long lie-in. That makes me sound really old doesn't it. I am young nanna though aren't I, only in my forties, and in my head I'm still 18 :D
So I guess I'm failing in my challenge to get the overdraft down by Christmas, I'm rubbish at challenges, don't know why I bother.
Nothing else much happening. DS has lost his new glasses, they were those ones that you can twist and bend, think they were about £70!! He gave them a school friend to look after whilst he did games at school and the lad lost them on the field. He has a spare pair but not the twisty ones. Well he'll have to wait now for another pair of those I'm afraid!!!!
DD also left her bag on the bus last week. She had her phone in her pocket. Luckily enough she waited till the bus came back round again, about 40 minutes and the bus driver had it. Everything was still in, purse, cards, keys, expensive make-up and brushes but they'd taken her cash out of her purse, but that was only about £8 so she was still pleased.
She's a bit of a Lizzy Dripping like me at times.
I won £10 on the lottery about two weeks ago and I can't find my lottery ticket.
Ah well, it could be a lot worse.
    Hope everyone is well.

I posted on GRs thread but youve answered some of the questions on here. How about completely forgetting the overdraft for a while? Obviously dont increase it over the usual but wait until after xmas then try again in the new year.

Sympathise with the kids, mine touchwood arent too expensive at the mo compared to teenages but seem to cost enough with trips n stuff. Goona have to have a serious pay increase to cope in a few years when they are older!

Im sure ticket will appear when you are not looking. Enjoy your brief lie in.

Hello everyone. Thanks for the support, as usual :D
Well went back to work today, for the day, as not in Fridays as you know, and I wasn't too bad. Chest was a bit wheezy though. Last couple of days it's sounded like an accordian!!
Anyway really glad I went to the Docs at the first sign, antibiotics and steroids (again) do seem to be working.
Not sure about paying the extra money towards the overdraft, I really want a wooden floor before Christmas so may put it towards this.
Oooh Christmas, I love it. DD is already planning our Christmas day dinner and who's coming. At least she's eager.:D
OH is absolutely full of a rotten cold and sore throat. He's not off work though, he doses up on cold relief and still goes in. The trooper, I'm the wuss. :D
Nothing else much to report, just plodding on as usual. Didn't find that lottery ticket either, nevermind eh?
Snuggly warm hugs to everyone on this cold night.

  • Well I thought I'd better update my diary before November.
Not doing very well with the overdraft as you can see. Took it this month right to the edge, wage has gone in and blimey I'm well over!!! But saying that I've been transferring some of my extra money into my savings account but also letting some get eaten up in the overdraft. I'm not happy about it but not stressed. Talking of which I had to have an ECG on Monday morning. Had a strange turn, pain in arm, right one though, not left, pain in chest and my right arm went really numb. It lasted about 1 minute. Went into work but phoned the Docs who said to go straight down. Luckily the ECG was good and my blood pressure spot on. Doc said to take the rest of the day off but obviously if it happens again to go back. She couldn't explain it and neither can I though I have been stressed recently, funnily enough not about money.
Anyhow I was ok at work today and feel fine. I think I need to relax more maybe.
Nothing else happening of any interest whatsoever. Was our wedding anniversary Monday. 19 years!! It seems like yesterday. Where do all the years go? Mind you, where has this year gone!! Was so determined to have paid the overdraft off this year but will have to make it a future goal.
Off to bed now. Catch you all later.

  • Glad to hear tests were clear but what a strange thing to happen. Maybe a warning sign to take it easy. No need to stress over OD its not over the limit and there is no other debts being added. I would enjoy xmas and new year then re evaluate.

    Thanks KP.
Well today we found out that the council are cutting TA's and SSA's wages by £100 a month!! Oh and also other council staffs. We only found out today. Letters were given out. Oh my golly you can imagine the uproar. Quite rightly too! It's all to do with this new grading system whereby it will go off the duties you perform. So some of us are in for a pay rise but they have upped the pro rata to 37 hours not 32 and as most of us work 27 !/2 hours or less, then it's like giving it you in one hand and taking probably more out the other. Looks like the union may get involved.
So looks like I'll have to knuckle down with that overdraft now. Maybe it's the kick up the proverbial I needed. Well I have to look at it positively, no other way. I've got 60 odd items on ebay and only 1 selling...for 99p. That won't help. Mind you I wouldn't mind 60 odd 99ps!!!!
I've left my glasses at work too, my raybans, and I've no idea were they are.
I'm such a numpty at times. I'm forever leaving them around and being handed them by someone!
Anyway will have a browse around the forum, enough of my ramblings.
    Hope everyone else is well.

Hi Diz,it's good to see you posting on your diary at last. Hope your feeling better. It's good that all the tests werenormal but you really must take it easy. As for work. I'm sure if your wage is affected you'll manage. Nobody likes to take a wage cut and I bet your gutted but hopefully as you say it's the kick you need to clear the OD.

    GR xx

Tar hun. If it happens it happens. No point at the moment getting worked up about it. It's awful for those single parents that are having to manage on what they get and then this happens. Well there's one thing for certain there's a lot of solidarity at the moment.
So now I've got the headphones on with Caravan, the prog rock band I love, coming through loud and it's making me feel quite chilled.
Hope you're ok GR and are having a relaxing evening.
Was quite pleased at tea time with myself. Just blitzed some mixed beans and onions with spices in the food processor and gently fried in olive oil with basil. They were yummy. :D
