Glad you're ok. You're doing well with the meal planning though, it does take time to get it down to a fine art and still even then the weeks are not always the same.
Went to Dublin for my fortieth birthday with the family. Ooh you'll enjoy it even if it is work related. It's kind of a break isn't it.:D

I don't believe in the concept of hell, but if I did I would think of it as filled with people who were cruel to animals.

  • Not much exciting to report. Work was good. I take year 3 on tuesday mornings and the teacher allows me to plan the music lesson whilst she has her planning time, I try to introduce them to music in a variety of ways, so today I took in 'The six wives of Henry the Eighth' by Rick Wakeman.Very diverse :D We read the info about each wife and then listened to Rick Wakemans musical interpretation of three of the wives and they picked out what part of their life was happening in the songs. they loved it and wanted to find out more about them so I guess we covered some history as well. Went on the internet at lunch and printed off Henry, his wives and Hampton Court. Popped back in after lunch and showed them, they were amazed.
They've also learned 'animal hasthas' indian movement for animals and wrote poems to match, and they've listened to 'moody blues' amongst others and produced art work with what they visualised from the songs. We also look at history of music from travelling minstrels to recent modern day musicals. For me music is so important in how it can uplift us and of course it's woven into most everyday lives, they do enjoy it so I must be doing something right, and hopefully it will whet their appetite to learn more. They're a fantastic class. We also work through the 'musical express' book which has some great ideas for teaching music. I love it. If I had my time again I would love to teach music but would probably find it difficult to stick rigidly to the curriculum. Some of us have joined a commitee started by the key stage 2 manager where a TA uses her skills and interests to deliver this in class so I'm involved in the art and music side.
Bit of a ramble here but it's nice to write it down and feel quite proud of my achievements.
So feeling pretty good today :D
Hope everyone else is okay and doing well on your journeys.

  • My Munchkin (year 3 as well) would love your class. Music and History in one is good going and I bet it is a lesson that actually talk to their parents about rather than the usual

    "what did you to today!
    "nothing"!

Good morning, glad you had a good day yesterday, you must be feeling better. You've also not mentioned any trips to the supermarket! Does that mean your being good or are you just not telling us?

What did you do with your lottery winnings, did you treat yourself? Your not doing so bad with your OD total, so far anyway, hope you'll manage to stay within budget this month. Can't wait for you to pay more off the debts, love to see the totals dropping.

Have a good day today x

Aw thanks Wendy...wonder what Rick Wakeman would have made of it. :D
Can you imagine a celebrity in school...:D

Hiya GR,you'll be proud of me. I've been trying to keep out the supermarkets, only popped in a couple of times and kept to what I wanted.
My winnings have dwindled a bit, don't know what on though...see I'm useless now unless it's in my budget, DD has borrowed some tonight, again, but she'll give it me back tomorrow.
Ooh I can't wait to pay some more off those debts, I'll be cracking open a bottle of bubbly and share a glass or three with your good self and Wendy and Seaxwyn if she pops in :D
Last day tomorrow then off for a week half term, glad really because I think I'll be sleeping away most of it, hopefully lol.
Hope everyone is okay and feeling positive about everything.

Your so lucky being in a job you enjoy. I love my job but work with someone who has a very negative abusive attitude to everything in life. People say she's a bully but the majority of the time i'm such a laid back person I can totally ignore her moods, however saying that I do have days where her negative attitude rubs off on me and makes me feel down.

Of course the holidays are always a bonus :)

WHen is the next payment due? Can't wait to see your new total and well done on behaving yourself in the supermarket...
  • Its a good job you have that attitude. You're right it can rub off on you and sometimes it's as if they're draining your life force iykwim. You just have to feel sorry for people like that, they must be very unhappy people deep down. Before I trained to be a nursery nurse, as we used to be called, I worked as a pharmacist dispensing assistant for eight years. I loved that too, mainly due to the other staff members. Mind you there were only two of us and the pharmacist :D We used to have such a laugh. It was bought three times whilst I was there but the owners were always great. It was in a small shopping precinct, now all knocked down and all the shops knew each other. We had an opticians next door to us and we used to dress up in odd clothes, the assistant would sit us in the chair and then when the optician came in we used to pull his leg, so to speak, mad days, we also used to go into the dry cleaners. he always had his newspaper spread out on the counter and we used to run in, staple it together and run out. Happy days. In the summer we used to take turns sun bathing outside on the wall. The boss would say as long as everything is stocked up and the shelves were clean we could do what we liked. He used to buy our lunch as well. The elderly dears that came in got a sit down and a cup of tea. Not many places do that these days. I then had our first son and decided to stay at home with him. We had our daughter and then when I had our youngest I went back to college and did my nursery nursing diploma. Before I went full time at school, only did mornings there originally, I used to work in the afternoons as well for NCH as a project worker, providing respite for young carers, I was there about 5 years. I was at school 9am-12 then NCH 3-8pm. Hardly saw the children which is why I took the heartbreaking decision to leave when I was offered full time at school. I have been very lucky indeed though.
Looks like i'm writing my CV here :D
What line of work are you in GR, have you said? If you could choose again what would you do?

I actually work in a Pathology Department. Any body fluid that comes out of a human body comes my way !!!!! Been there for 18 years and absolutely love my job and my boss. Have made some really good friends there and 3 of them I'd class as some of my best friends. It's these people that keep my spirits up.

I still don't know what I want to be when I grow up, I sort of fell into this job and got comfortable. Would absolutely love to run a karaoke bar in Spain. Sunbathe and swim all day and sing all night. Would also sell all the things british holiday makers miss when on holidays - real richmond sausages, walkers crisps and cadbury's chocolate.
