    Thanks Wendy
Don't give up.You may have spent more if you hadn't been trying though!
It's very hard I know. I tried to do the grocery challenges but never succeeded and it just made me feel a failure, so I took the pressure off myself. I used to go into asda almost every day and instead of buying the couple of items I wanted I'd end up spending loads. Now if we need a loaf, or something I go to the corner shop. Might be a bit more expensive per item but in the long run I save because I'm not tempted to get anything else! :D

Good morning dizzy, just been catching up with your thread. I've gotta say you sound so much more positive regarding your debts than I've ever seen you be before. I know you've got the determination to keep going now.

Just think when you pay the £400 off debt 1 you'd have cut it down to half, that is a massive acievement in such a short space of time.

    Keep going girl.

Aw thanks GR and Wendy if OH goes to the shop he's maybe less likely to spend more if he's anything like mine...
I still feel good today despite getting my nw statement. Paid off £125 last week but it was a week overdue because I was waiting for the statement which I thought was quite late. A root in my drawers (so to speak) and I found it!!! Been charged £12 for late payment. Phoned them up and she said because it was late there wasn't anything they could do. Fair enough and she was pleasant about it....But it's not really bothered me, yeh annoyed it's £12 but at least it's not more. Checked my bank and I'm still ahead than I was this time last month, even with those withdrawals, just shows I must have been spending my money on nothing from asda because we've still had food in, planned meals which have made it easier and alls hunky dory.
In fact today at lunch I was pondering life, as you do, and thought I'd better get some nail bite solution. I grow them really long then when one breaks I nibble, ugh horrible habit. So thought I'd pop to the town centre as it would be cheaper. Then I thought but I'll have to pay for parking and time and petrol. So popped into boots on way home and the cost probably evened out. Wouldn't even have crossed my mind to add on parking fees to anything.:D
Also on the way home I thought Ooh I could murder some chips and gravy, but thought well I've got organic chips at home and I can make my own gravy...I just love the way my brains thinking, maybe I've been possessed or something (God forbid) but this sure ain't like the old me :D
GR it's so good to be getting somewhere with all this and actually doing it instead of thinking about it, I wouldn't have been so determined though I'm sure without the support from you guys in my diary :A
Eeh I don't half go on, better go and make some tea I think, Quorn and rice for two and veggie Chill wraps for the other two, don't know what I fancy now though, might still make myself chips and gravy (not healthy I know but comforting).
Luvz and hugz to y'all :D

  • Drat and double drat about the charge but you definitely have your money saving head on so youll be there in no time.

OH was good and stuck to the list, another £12 gone but Im still ahead of my £70 for the week. Your right he is better I would have added a few "much needed" bits!

Hiya Wendy...send OH everytime now :D The thing is if you'd gone to the supermarket thinking you'd be saving, you don't because you buy more, we know this but we still do it, well trying not to now.
It's taken me a year to get round to this way of thinking so you're doing really well in this space of time. Are you jotting down how much you're saving too, even if it has to go on something else I think physchologically it does you good. My way of thinking was, if I bought something in a sale I could spend the equivalent amount I'd saved, buy something with it and so technically that was free :D Realise now I think I was just hoodwinking the OH. They are easy to hoodwink though aren't they...
    Best of luck Wendy

  • If I give him any more jobs I think he will strike! He looks after the kids while I work and does most of the house work (ok nearly all :D ). Main shopping, financial side, cooking and mowing the lawn are some of my tasks.

He is sooo much better than he used to be and now its me that wants to spend. I took control of the finances not long after we met thinking I was doing ok. Well it was better than him but still not good enough.

I dont know what he owes ( some idiot let him have a cc  or three) but I guess its around half what I do  . Im not allowed to take over that but at least now we both want to take control and not overspend.

Well time for a little update. Still all going according to plan. Similar amount of money spent in shopping which is the amount I've budgeted for so pleased about that.
Also took a top back to tesco last night...bought it last week, reduced to £3 from £12 in the sale and the assistant had left the plastic tag on. It didn't go off when I went through the exit so didn't notice till I got home. Took it back last night and the security bleep went off...anyway she took the tag off and I mentioned as I hadn't been able to wear it at the time was there a possibility of something as a gesture of goodwill. She spoke to the manager via phone and said I could choose some flowers. Despite there being some beautiful dear ones I choose a £4 bunch nearest its end date, thought I'd give it some fresh water before it was too late...DD thinks I'm totally mad, hmmm maybe I am :D
Week-ends gone by fast as usual. Just waiting for my debt 1 statement to arrive and then I can send off my payment x 2 and another payment off debt 2, as that statement has arrived.
In the middle of making cheese and onion pie, roast potatoes, carrots, brocolli, sweetcorn, yorkshire puds and gravy. A family favourite. I'll just have the veggies.
Nothing exciting really to add...oooh did peel my potatoes using a peeler instead of using my usual knife, usually peel half the potatoes away otherwise. Quite proud of that...
Hope everyone else is doing okay...

Soooooo tired todayat work. Didn't have a late night neither, well about 12 ish which isn't too bad for me. Maybe it's the weather, quite a few people felt the same today. OH made tea, I've just had 2 slices of wholemeal toast, just lay on the couch drifting in and out of sleep. Can't be coming down with anything, I've had my fair share of viruses recently thank you very much...I am definately going to have an early night. I love going to bed with a hot water bottle and a good book. Picked one up from the library by Jo Brand the other day so will see what that's like.
Moneywise still okay, and all going to plan. :D
