  • Dazzle,
as more experienced posters than me will say, and as you're planning to do, -IGNORE THEM! it's not a fine and it's not legally binding. They will not allow the "appeal" as they want your money. Mrs theHibby is in the process of ignoring them for a ticket she got in a free car park that was virtually empty, and is taking pleasure in playing "snap" with the letters in the sticky thread.

I visited Crown Wharf Shopping Centre on 23/12/2011 for Exactly One hour to go to TK MaX & have received a letter with 2 pics of my Car & an £80 Fine with £30 Costs from Parking Eye .... I appealed & told them there was a Sign saying Free Parking for the 2 Week Christmas period & today I have had a letter saying the Appael was Unsuccessful & I have to Pay .... I WILL NOT be paying this Fine ..... I could have Walked over if I'd have thought I had to Pay for Parking but as the Sign on the side of the road stated it was Free I thought I would take advantage of this! They also said if I want the appeal to be looked at Again I have to send receipts of what I bought on that day ..... Would this really matter if they are saying I should have bought a ticket? ..... Shysters ....!!! I still Wonder if this Fine is Legally binding but I still won't be Paying & suggest others follow suit.

Complain to the management of the shopping centre that their parking contractor is harassing you for not-paying on a free parking day and also try the local media "Crown Wharf Shopping Centre charges shoppers for failing to pay on free parking day" would make an excellent headline

    Ignore Parking Eye

I suggest you just read the sticky threads (info threads) at the top of the very forum you are posting on.

We already know it's a scam, we show you the letters to expect, we show you a Watchdog clip confirming you can ignore this fake PCN.

Still getting all bothered by a scam and stop actually believing there is an 'appeals process'!! Think about it?! Read the stickies and learn that this was never a matter for 'appeal' (LOL!).
PRIVATE 'PCN'? DON'T PAY BUT DON'T IGNORE IT (except N.Ireland).

  • I actually have TWO of these for the same day/time. One for my (company) car and one for my wife's (we both parked at Crown Wharf on 28/12/11 believing it was free parking over the Christmas holiday-I'm the registered keeper for her car)

I've had 2 letters already for each car approx 12 days apart asking me for the money. My charge goes up to £80 if I don't pay by tomorrow.

My gut is telling me to pay them as I don't want the threat of court action looming over me, but my head and other advice from here, watchdog, my companies solicitor and advice from my sister who lectures contract law, is telling me to hold fast and ignore them and every other letter that I know is going to arrive.

Ultimately I'll decide what to do tomorrow, but if I don't pay, I'll keep you all updated as to what happens.
  • Sparky - DO NOT PAY. You owe them nothing. All the advice you are getting is correct.

I actually had a conversation about this with a policeman today and he told me that a few of his colleagues are ignoring these tickets for the same reasons everyone on the forum says.

Sorry to be blunt but you would be stupid to pay them, an absolute mug to fall for a clear scam which this forum covers completely, with legal advice from a solicitor as well! And you even have impartial legal advice as well telling you the same.

Please sleep on it and come back and tell us that you have not fallen victim to this. There is no 'threat of Court hanging over you'. THEY LIE.

Believing the PPC's threatograms would be like believing a phishing email that claimed to be from eBay saying that your account would be suspended if you don't click on a link and 'fill in some details'. If you get one of those do you actually think there's a 'threat of account suspension hanging over you'? Or do you laugh at the scam and ignore/delete it?

I can't believe your heart is really telling you to pay this scam! Frankly I am amazed. I am just an ordinary wife and Mum with no CCJs and a job requiring a CRB check, a typical upstanding citizen, if you like. But I 'managed' to ignore a fake PCN and all the letters, 4 years ago and laughed when I saw it on my windscreen. It is just some junk mail. Please man up.

  • Thanks to you both for the replies. I will indeed sleep on it.

I think the thing that bothers me the most is that they make 'threats' and statements about consequences that appear to be very real, the main one being CCJ's and court attendance. As I understand it, if they wish to pursue my case, it could end up in court. That's the bit I don't want the hassle of - life is stressful enough at times.

Having got all that off my chest, I'm actually starting to answer my own argument here as it is exactly my last comment above about consequences, that this company is exploiting to get me to pay, as I am inherently good natured and law abiding.

Coupon, I thank you for your bluntness, the more of this type of advice I get the more I'm inclined to take the advice of you and others.

I think tomorrow may be Day 1 of Judgement Day. I'll keep you updated.

You are lucky you have had free legal advice from people well versed in this area, a lot of solicitors aren't to put it bluntly. They are telling you the exact thing we are all telling you, a legal expert in this area tells you what to do. You won't be a bright sparky if you pay and fall for this scam, if you had an email demanding payment from nigeria would you pay it ?

It's your money of course so ultimately it's your choice, but can I suggest you watch the other two watchdog videos in the thread called that a little further down, and please listen to it very carefully, and for gods sake don't enrich people from your hard earned money, honestly they don't deserve it, and they are most certainly not entitled to it, despite what they say in their letters !
Excel Parking, MET Parking, Combined Parking Solutions, VP Parking Solutions, ANPR PC Ltd, & Roxburghe Debt Collectors. What do they all have in common?
They are all or have been suspended from accessing the DVLA database for gross misconduct!
Do you really need to ask what kind of people run parking companies?

sparky...you should pay up. If you're 'wobbling' after all the advice you've been given, then pay up and move on.

Regards the threats in their letters of being passed to a debt collector, taken to court and having CCJ's registered against you, think about it if they just sent a letter saying can you please pay us, as we want your money it wouldn't sound so threatening would it?;)
