  • Hi,

sorry you're ill :( hope you're up and about v soon!

The redundancies suck, we had four go last week and nothing was announced beforehand so it was a massive shock to everyone, its horrible. Definitely get your CV out there, even if you're not in danger if you can get more money elsewhere then its worth a bash!

    Good luck :)

  • Well i've sat and finally caught up with everyones diaries wow you are all doing so well... i'm feeling a little like the student that always gets "could do better" on their report. i'm still definately riding the rollercoaster of emotion with this debt...i hope it gets easier :o i guess things are going really well with the boy and its really made me think about the future, and all the talk of redundancy has made me realise that i def need the stress of this debt off my back just in case the worse happens.i've got 4 weeks left of 2011 so i'm going to try my best and 2012 is going to be my year for clearing this debt

    Targets for this week
    • 5 NSD i've done really badly this month......i've done 4
    • At least 20 surveys.... i've done 5
    • Go back to the gym at least twice this week
    • [STRIKE]Register at the other agency tomorrow[/STRIKE]
    • [STRIKE]Send my CV tonight[/STRIKE]
    • keep the weight off
    • Find out whether i paid PPI for a car loan agreement in 2001
    • Look into maybe cutting back on my sky subscription
I've also sat tongiht and set up spreadsheets for my out goings, i'm registered at two extra agencies and i officially join their books in 2012 so any work through them will go on the debt i've also changed my sig as i think seeing a percentage pay off might encourage me
  • Hey,

Well done, you are doing well so don't put yourself down! This is a v tricky time of year to keep up the pace, I can't wait for Jan to start debt-busting properly!!

Glad things are going well with the boy, does he know your situation?

The agency work sounds promising :D

Me neither I really want to get cracking, No he doesn't and I want to keep it that way for now, he just thinks i'm very careful with my money, he knows I don't earn as much as him so he is quite understanding, things are going so well though seeing him is my little treat each week!
  • So Monday Monday

I've had a good start to the day all my bills are paid, i've got my budget worked out its only a 3 week month this month, and I have something going on every week, So i've divided up my remaining money by each event and then I have £3 a day to deal with petrol, food and anything else! sounds tight but I already have a weeks worth of petrol left from last month and my freeze is still rammed with lasange!

Im pretty much done for xmas shopping, I have three gifts to get and I know exactly what they are and that I can pick them up on the 20th so i'm feeling very smug with my 15p a roll tesco wrapping paper! :D

    So targets for this week:
    • 4 NSD's
    • Earn a minimum of 7p with free cashback clicks
I have also decided to focus on these MSE items this week
    • Making my car more fuel efficient
    • Using my electricity more effiently
    • Using the food I have in my cupboards rather than stopping off
    MY LECCY
So this is because I can't make much more money as I work long hours so I thought i'd start focusing on using it more efficiently. This month my electricity DD was £135  this is because I was in arrears, its paid off half the last quarter but my next bill is due 22 dec, i'm going to take a reading tomorrow and start tracking my usage.

    THE CAR
So I have a weeks worth of petrol going by my current way of driving, so reading the guide on here I think i'm going to empty it apart from the essentials, Tourch, De Icer, Petrol Tank as the weight helps, i always have my air topped up in the tyres i'll have to think of other ways I can make my petrol go further.

    FOOD
I'm terrible for having stuff sat in the cupboard and stopping off to pick up more on the way home from work i definately don't need anything bought between now and next week.

Ah that's nice!!! Glad it's going well, I love a good romance!

ohh very happy to hear about your dates :) i have also started going on a few dates with a guy and find it expensive. mainly because i met him online so dont know him well enough yet to invite him round for dinner etc.. so we have been for drinks, dinner and cinema. hopefully when i get to know him more we can do more stiff like dvds, takeaways, cooking etc... which should be cheaper!

well done on your debt progress so far!

  • This evening my focus has turned to 2012

I can't do too much more this month other than NSD and surveys and trying to keep expenditure down, so i thought i'd have a look at an action plan for 2012

Things are going really well with the boy and i think it has made me realise i really really need to get this debt gone now so I can move on with my life, its a lot so I want to start 2013 with as little debt as possible. i've been on the frugal boards, registered for the spend diary which was an eye opener just for this weekend

I think i need a better spreadsheet than the one i created - can anyone suggest any?

I've had a good weekend my mum gave me her old xmas tree which was immaculate! So i now have a tree with some of her old baubbles - nice and free i haven't got any lights but i'm trying to cut back on leccy. I've switched all the heating off apart from my bedroom and i'm heading there in a min so it should be nice and warm and i've got big thick socks and my slippers on and i'm wrapped in two blankets. I've decided unless I'm ill or I can see my breath i want turning on the heating as a last resort.

My phone is my next target i have the stupid contract until september at £45 a month (i know!) but i got a text from orange saying it was going up so I'm trying not to use anything but my inlcuded calls and text, i also have managed to get some friends and the boy on Whatsapp so thats free messaging for photos. I have also taken my spare charger to work and i'm using work to charge my phone.

The car is now as light as i can get it and i'm trying to drive more frugally! constant speed, using the cars momentum to slow its self rather than hitting the break etc..

I had another two days extra work yesterday and today which was excellent should be another £120 in Jan/feb whenever it gets paid, i'm so pleased I decided to do it if im diciplined enough thats really going to help trying to clear as much as possible next year.

Got a work dinner tomorrow night which being paid for by the big boss so that should be a NSD and i've been invited to lunch by my other boss friday so that will be a NSD too as i wont be going out afterwards!

Saturday i have a night out with friends and the rest of the weekend should be pretty quiet. so I'm aiming for at least 4 NSDs between now and sunday and next week is pretty quiet too.
  • Glad to hear its all going well with boy and budgets! Good idea to plan ahead to 2013 and get cracking asap! Youre doing really well with all the cutbacks, just dont make yourself ill with having the heating off :)

My spreadsheet is just one I created too, but I know there is one on here, try the sticky on the DFW main board I think...

  • So i've been quiet but im cooking up a plan...

My tree is up my presents are wrapped and i'm feeling a little more positive about christmas and the new year. i've totted up the cost of my christmas gifts, and i'm pleased to say thanks to mse vouchers, grab it while you can's and freebies (low spend tips) i have spent £150 Less than i did last year! i'm so so pleased and its not tat either its body shop, kurt geiger, molton brown etc... so hopefully the recipients will be really pleased, normally i would be looking thinking, "god i wish i hadn't bought that/spent so much" i actually am feeling pretty good about the long pay month rather than worrying how i'm going to get through!

I do have a plan for january however, i'm going to be "detoxing" i want to see how much i could actually save if i was a complete recluse (obviously I will have one date out scheduled with the boy!"

i've downloaded an app on my phone to track my spending rather than recording what i want to remember i've spent and my budget for 2012 is in and do-able my weekly spends money is literally for extras so i'm hoping to be disciplined enough not to spend it every week. i've got another extra job next week which is good and i've set up a spreadsheet for my tax return.

So i'm all set i just need to avoid the january sales

So far i've had another two NSD's and i have a work dinner tomorrow and friday night so those will definately be cheap days, I have 1 more portion from this batch of lasgne so i have no reason to spending anything between now and saturday at least and i have ebay bids to the sum of £80 that end friday so that money will tide me over til pay day on tuesday.

I can't believe how quickly december has gone! but i can't wait for january to start
