Ok so..pay day tomorrow...
this is where the fun begins, i've done the theory, I think i've seen the light... i've practiced some of what MSE has preached....but can I make this month as a change woman???...0 -
Excellent start to my first MSE pay month!
I got paid for my First aider work in my salary today £250!! Wohoo..so, ok not quite MSE but I’ve put £150 in the earn £10 a day savings pot and paid £100 deposit IN CASH on a 2012 holiday (new challenge!) I know I know…naughty but I work really hard, really long hours and I need a break at least once a year and I’m going to put everything in my sealed pot to that it has about £30 in it already and I’ve got 8mths til I need to pay it PLUS I got £23 cashback when I booked it sooo….
I’ve signed up for some research panels and I’ve been invited to do one in a couple of weeks for an alcoholic drink with £80 payment!! Result!! :rotfl:
And I’ve organised my bank accounts this morning J
Now I have
· A bills account, where all my direct debits are and my salary goes in
· A Spends account, for erm spending…WHICH OF COURSE I WILL TRY NOT TO DO
· A Savings account (well it’s a start!- anything that goes in here will go towards paying off the debt)
I’m hoping that this will stop me over spending and then panicking I have a bill coming out, anything I have left in the spends at the end of the month I’m going to put in the savings account I’ve already popped £100 in there so my first target is the smaller Capital One card so will the rest of the money that is going in there from Ebay and Qudico I’ve only got to find £174 and then I’m a debt down!!! I’ve got some boots to sell on Ebay but I think I’m going to hold out till another free insertion weekend…and I’m going to focus on reviews and things in November. :T
I can’t believe it 1 month of MSE and I’ve almost paid off 1 credit card that has hung round my neck for 4 years!!!
I’ve had a bad go at the NSD’s but I think that’s because I’ve not planned ahead - I’ve got 3 NSD for sure this week which is half what I wanted for October but not a bad start November is going to be different!!
Aims for the rest of this week:
· Make another £30 extra
· Go to the gym 3 times
· 3 NSD
· Tidy spare room0 -
Hey,
Found your diary today, and have subscribed
I'm glad everything has started so well. The trick is to keep up the enthusiasm, particularly if there are bumps in the road.
The best thing I did was to do a spending diary. Basically I have an app on my phone which I put in EVERYTHING I spend to make sure I don't get charged overdraft fees this month. I don't put in money that goes in, just out. I want to be in the black this month. 20 days to pay day!
Keep it upYou are my motivation too

Hi there
You're doing brilliantly with the £10 a day challenge. Well done!
I've also decided to use separate bank accounts this month for different funds. Hope it goes well for you. I think it's a great idea.
It's the best feeling paying off your first debt...and you're so close! Keep going. You're doing it!

I have an Android phone and the app I use is called "Checkbook". You can get the free trial which lets you have two accounts, but I paid for the full version (About £1.30) so I could add more accounts (basically as I have more debt!)
I put in everything that comes out ONLY! Even though I've had a lot of Amazon and PayPal transactions that have gone in, I don't add them. I'd only be tempted to spend it, plus it's been allocated to my CC bill next month. I keep checking my statement online, just to make sure.
I'll see if this this plan works in 16 days when it's payday! :rotfl:DEBT FREE SINCE 25.07.14!

Ok so November..... Feeling a bit cold, a bit tired and a bit down....
This months not as successful as I'd hoped, i've been paid for exactly a week, i've paid all my bills, my current "events" in November are budgeted for but I got a parking fine that was £70! I could have kicked myself, I paid an extra £80 off my debts this month which I was chuffed with but annoyed it could have been double. Feeling on a massive downer about the fine, i've never had one in my life and it was a complete mistake I thought I'd parked in a visitors bay, I was going to argue it but the letter said if i did and I wasn't sucessful the fine would be £140 rather than the reduced amount and I just can't afford that.:(
I do have another problem looming....I really like this guy at work and I think he is hinting at going on a date! i'm quite excited at the thought but how can I manage to date and get this debt clear? I really feel like its holding me back now I've coped the last month because I can eat beans on toast and sit in the dark and not go out because I'm on my own - i know i'm looking waaaay down the line but a BF will be a massive distraction from the debt
I've put the extra money I made last month into my savings account to pay off the capital one card when I have it all...and i've now bought 6 of my xmas presents (4 of which I am making!) So i'm pleased about that, they aren't the main family presents they will have to come out of Novembers pay.
I have 1 wedding and three nights out - I've already paid for 1 night out and a deposit on a second so other than that I'm aiming for big NSD this month - with Christmas looming!
Targets this month
1) loose 6lb
2) 20 NSD
3) make £300 extra cash
4) continue saving £2 coins for xmas & holiday next year
5) start making Xmas presents
I've been thinking I'd love to start the new year under the £10k Mark - I think it's do-able, I've got another 2 pay days so that's £400 and the £365 extra earnt in October is trickling in... I think it will really spur me on I feel that although I was paying stuff of before here and there I wasnt focused and it's been £10k something for ages I think in my mind I will feel better if I change the big number!

Hi!
dont feel down! I once had my car towed and had to cough up £260!!!! Again a mistake but not worth arguing. sorry you got it though, it's a real bummer. Look at the rest of your figures, they're great! You've done well so concentrate on the positives!!
Re the boy! I can relate, I feel a fella would distract me, but if you don't allow yourself a life you will struggle and maybe you can just see how it goes with him and date occasionally. If it looks to become anything more then maybe be honest that you can't afford expensive dates and suggest cheaper alternatives!
Good luck with the <£10k target!Santander 0% £1,529.94
