actual handing over of vouchers today in total 16 - amount I was allowed to use 3 !!!! these were the health and beauty ones too at the same store that yesterday stated they'd scan anything !
the supervisor told also stated that if they were tesco specific I could only vouchers for actual items purchased to the value of 10% !!!!
I was very pleasant and smiled sweetly but drove to work wondering what that store is playing at

In our local tesco like everywhere else it seems to be each SA has a different policy to suit themselves. So if I go to a jobsworth I hand over 3 different coupons which is the correct policy in that store,if I go to one of the young girls who isn't that interested I hand over 5-6 BUT if I find a young lad as we all know will take anything then out comes a whole wad and I say as I'm packing my bags very slowly "I think I can use most of those" and 9 out of 10 times by the time my "own" bags are packed they have reduced my bill down to nearly nothing!!In fact on one occasion I had to stop him scanning anymore because I noticed the total was almost zero and I didn't want tesco making a profit from my coupons!!LOL
I have started to keep track this year on how much I have saved in tesco using coupons and so far in January I think I am up to about £80 spending around £100 in cash.
Can anyone tell me how I add a signature to the bottom of my page because I will keep track there, not that I need any encouragement!!0 -
Hiya  go to quick links at the top and edit signature to add one/amend an exisiting one.
I hope on the weekend my vouchers are more readily accepted. I'm so busy in work, booking hotels and international flights, going to meetings, etc that I don't have as much time to pop into tescos. Even the catering chap, brought me a cup of tea and biccies today as I was mega busy. My diary in work is chocca.
Although, I think between dance classes, seeing a panto and, gymnastic classes this weekend I maybe able to visit tescos and use some of my vouchers before they expire.

I usually use 2-6 vouchers per shop. I don't use anymore, as I'd hate drawing attention to myself!! I am a chicken I know."I did then, what I knew then. And when I knew better, I did better"0

jayok wrote:Just to clarify; Do Tesco accept vouchers for products that you have not bought as long as they are generic ones from the manufacturer? Is this store policy or is it at the whim of the people manning the checkouts?
I have never used vouchers for products I had not bought as I assumed that the contract between store and manufacturer is that the customer must buy the item? I may well try a few at the weekend.
Just to encourage you this weekend, do indeed give it a go if you are in Tesco (or Asda or Waitrose who also accept coupons without buying the product). Don't even ask in Sainsbury's, Co-op, Morrisons etc (altho' I have slipped a few in at Sainsbury's before just by looking confident as I handed a few over to a young lad who assumed I have bought the item!).
Once they have scanned your shopping just say, 'could you scan any of my coupons please?' when you hand over your Clubcard. The worst they can say is 'no' but normally they will scan at least one, if not all!
Just don't bother with coupons with the store logo on (e.g. the Coco Shreddies 30p off from Tesco's own magazine) as these will only scan if you DO buy the product. You need coupons cut from magazines or newspapers, or from product packaging, or maybe some you've been given by a 'product testing' stand at the store, or even some you've bought on eBay.
Good luck, let us know how you get on! :TPRIVATE 'PCN'? DON'T PAY BUT DON'T IGNORE IT (except N.Ireland).

Hi, just wondering if anyone has had any luck with self scan tills? We have a few at our tescos and would perfer to go through here than the checkouts, as I don't normally buy much.:smileyhea:heart: Mrs Lea Nov 5th '11

I don' think that's chicken Charlene, I think it's sensible. While I admire the nerve of people who use loads of coupons, you are certainly making yourself conspicuous by doing it and there is a chance of getting "logged" by Mr T, as we have seen.
My store seems mostly to have a limit of 3 coupons, so I generally hand over 4. I have difficulty counting

Ah well, I finally lost my inhabitations and used 29 vouchers (no doubt someone will shoot me down for this one). Decided as they were all Tesco specific and therefore product purchase was required, why not have a go!!!
I've now found a new laid back young male assistant who is now on my list of favourite SAs!!!0 -

I used to use the self-scan at Asda until I was stopped and accosted by some SA. There are 4 tills with a SA plonked in the middle watching and waiting to catch me and my coupons! The downside is that they can see what you have bought on their mini-screens and usually (from my experience) check that the coupon relates to the purchsed item! The self-scan were good for the £5 superdrug coupons that were around a few months ago but have since been reprogrammed cos the till goes into shut down mode after a 50p coupon!
My advice is try the self-scan with a coupon if you have purchased the item to test it out cos if you get 'caught' then you have nothing to be ashamed of. Or just try a regular checkout and ask the SA to try the coupons for you.Ever wonder about those people who spend £2 apiece on those little bottles of Evian water? Try spelling Evian backward.0 -
I don't use as many vouchers as I have done in the past. Mr Welshy always says we can budget effectively but the points are the ones he'd prefer me to use so today the majority of mine were points vouchers.
From my 4 tesco experiences today the cashiers have definitely been told to calm down on the voucher scanning
