TBH I hate fitting standard kitchens as they are boring, much nicer to make bespoke ,but expensive..
Not much call for bespoke round my way, you get a free breakfast at howdens anyway so that makes up for it a bit:)0 -
Just want to point out that none of this stuff is nicked!
It's all rejects. They had a big store where all rejects were sent, and workers were allowed to use it for private use only, i..e they had to state what it was for (i.e. they could have one or two baths with a chip in or a scratch, so long as they stated what it was for and wrote it down...to avoid selling on they couldn't simply take 15 baths).
They stopped this just 4 months after I moved in though, following the tesco policy where it all has to get crushed...grrr!0 -

The wastage was collosal. 8 foot worktops rejected because one corner was crushed.
So I had that too. Two of them, did my kitchen lovely when I was doing it. Just cut the crushed bit off as none of my worktops are 8 foot long (or however long a worktop is).
Good job I'm not too fussed about colours really!0 -

Must be area specific as here its always bog standard quality ,mend and make do with repairs. In general HA will always fit the cheapest windows, doors, kitchens etc etc etc. If it has a life expectancy of 10-12 years they will make it last 20 years.
In 42 years of life down here Councils and HA have always been tight with money and employ bogders and cowboys in general and won't pay for a decent tradesman.0
