Housing associations are now fitting cornice, pelmets, and splashbacks to their kitchens, no reason to fit any of this stuff as its just a waste of money.
Looks like somebody needs to keep wasting money for some reason:)
Cornice and pelmets for a bog standard kitchen from Howdens(where many HA source their kitchens) would cost on average less than £75-100 per house not in the same league as triple glazing Jimmy....;)0 -

Are you sure they have triple glazing Graham?, I only ask this as double glazing conforms to Part L of building regulations so I'm not sure why any HA would go to the expense of triple glazing.....There are 5 different HA here and not one would fit triple glazing, think theres a bit of poetic licence going on here.
100% they have tripple glazing. Was offered to the owners at bulk discount rate. None of us could afford it though.
I forgot to mention extra loft insultation and wall insulation recently carried out. But to be fair a couple of owners also had that done if they qualified. I just didn't.0 -

Yes its common practice for the main contractors doing the work to offer the same service to a private property.
Triple glazing does sometimes get fitted in HA housing because i have seen it myself when im fitting a lovely glass hob splashback in the brand new kitchen that was only replaced 4 years earlier0 -

Not something you would get in the houses for sale however.
Also get better bathrooms in the ones for rental / HA's according to my dad (who used to work for a very large builder). Steel baths, better toilets etc, as it reduced breakages for the HA's. However, you'd get the standard stuff in the ones for sale.
Can't complain. The overstock is in my bathroom

And thats why you never ask the boss for a price and you always ask the lad doing the work:)0 -
Oh oh, and quickstep laminate. I've laid that in my kitchen, which was also from social housing, as this stopped the issue of ripped lino. Not exactly cheap laminate.
As I said, can't complain. It's nice laminate. But again, this was put into the social housing, hence why I have the reject stuff (nothing wrong with it that I can see) and also have the standard lino which went into the private homes in the loft, ready to go into the bathroom.0 -

I only fit about 5 or so a year but I've always had decent prices.I never look at the price lists any more ,just not accurate.I think the prices depend on which side of the bed the Managers got out of that morning, or who's bed for that matter.....:D
TBH I hate fitting standard kitchens as they are boring, much nicer to make bespoke ,but expensive..0
