  • Hi All,
Have been awol for a while as I've been stacked with catching up on work, sorting out the new flat, getting used to not having the place to myself (!) and popping back home to see my mum, so will catch up and reply to posts bit by bit!

I don't think scrummy gifts should be listed! The kit looks gorgeous. Be sure to post what the fragrance is like will you?

Will definitely let you know as soon as I open it (I know, how I have resisted so far?! It looks lovely so I have high hopes. As soon as I have time for a pamper I'll get it out. :D
I'm having a panic, just signed the contract on a rental house with my bf and I'm slightly concerned about him finding out about the amount of toiletries and (worse!) make up I've got! It's a 1 bedroom house and it's pretty small so there won't be much chance of having a secret stash anywhere, I can leave some duplicate toiletries at my Mum's but that doesn't really work with makeup!

Exactly where I was Rachel! We just moved in together into a 1 bed flat. I have been making the most of stuffing as much into plastic tubs and hiding them in the bottom of the bathroom cupboard as I can! I have also just purchased a storage cube (£30 from Next - bargain!) to use as a stool for my dressing table (that I built myself at the weekend - I am very proud that it is still standing :D) - I think the cube is genius as you can use it for storage and unless you tell the bf he'll never know :rotfl:

Flirtini - what a nice gesture by your boss and what a lovely gift set. She must think very highly of you.

She's such a lovely person - very hard work to work for, but so lovely that it's worth it - and she's aware how difficult it is and so does make allowances! Yes, it was a lovely surprise and although the circumstances were obviously less than ideal, it does make you feel valued.

Right, onto the next few pages of catching up! :)

    Hi Ladies,

    I hope everybody's well :)

Lady M I've got my fingers crossed for you :)

Trudij Red looks beautiful, and I'm no good with fancy dress I'm afraid :o

    UU
Lush The Comforter bubble bar - WIBA? Yes as it's my HG bubble bar. Onto an Amondopondo bubble bar now (used half already).

    IN
L'Occitane Desert Rose Hand cream - with MC of course. I didn't need a hand cream and I don't usually buy the magazine :o But this is an excellent price for it.

Ladies, I'm in a bit of a dilemma. I've been invited to a uni friend's 30th birthday meal. Now, this guy was one of my best friends at uni, but we grew apart afterwards. I'm happy to go, but just not sure. The meal may be at the Roof Gardens, and most guests will probably carry on to a club after. I don't go to clubs, and if I'm honest, looking at the prices of the restaurant, it's a lot steeper than I would usually choose. Also, I wouldn't know what to wear, as I tend to live in jeans, and dress them up. I don't own/wear dresses. My other friend probably isn't going, so it would be maybe one or two friends I know well, and the rest would be strangers. That's definitely out of my usual comfort zone. I am trying to get out more to try to lessen my time at home remembering a certain somebody. So basically, what should I do? I'd really appreciate any kind of advice ladies :o

ETA: I started typing this before Flirtini posted  That was like, 20 minutes ago  Glad to see you Flirtini, hope you're ok *hugs*

  • Right, I think I'm just about caught up, so;

Adilade - congrats on your near graduation from the challenge. I have a while to go yet myself, I think :rotfl:

Sarah*a - sorry to hear your SIL is being so awful. I do hope it gets sorted for the best eventually.

Absinthe Fairy - Sorry to hear about the job, and WOW on the shoes - they are one spangly pair! Also Valm - I'm not an Ugg fan but those are so cute.

The next person to post links to pretty shoes is in trouble - mainly because I want to go and buy them!!! :D

McCulloch - I love the idea of a virtual dog walk, especially for a good cause - so I may be toddling off later to do just that! x

Lady Morticia - Have my fingers firmly crossed for you. xx

Toiletry wise not much to report - there were possibly a few splutterers that didn't survive the house move but I didn't take note so not sure! No new ins though, so far so good for October!

So I have no ideas for Halloween dress for a horse - although that is a fabulous idea! However, any ideas for me gratefully received - I'm hosting a halloween/housewarming party on the 29th, and need an amazing costume. I've looked online and all the fancy dress sites just have either sacks for witches or zombies, or the 'sexy' costumes that barely (if at all!) cover your backside! Now, I'm young and in reasonably decent shape, but my bum is definitely not pert enough to be on display, nor would I wish that on any of my friends! :rotfl::rotfl:

So, can anyone think of or know where I can get a lovely costume that I can attempt to look pretty in, (or at least not ugly!)? Or something original and cool? Any suggestions gratefully received, and more than happy to look into buying things to make my own (more in terms of pairing clothing and accessories than actual sewing, however...) - doesn't have to be a complete store bought costume!

I love reading this thread. I have been trying to do something similar and am slowly succeeding but I still have a collection of body butters, deodorants, handcream and hair conditioners/anti frizz serums to work my way through. It all fits in one hessian bag for life now though.

My main problem is clothes though. I totted up yesterday and I have thirty items of clothing accumulated over the last two years that I haven't worn yet. I have decided that I am not buying any clothes until January 2013. The only exceptions are work trousers if needed, and posh going out clothes if the occasion arises. As part of this I am going to wear all my nice things and not keep them for best, and slowly declutter my wardrobe. My mum passed away a couple of years ago, and when we were going through her things we were amazed at all the lovely stuff she had but never wore. I am sorry if this is the wrong place to post this.

The housing association dude said that he needs to phone the local council to clarify "local connection" as it's different to the other councils he's worked with, but that he'll phone me tomorrow, regardless of whether we've been successful or not, which I think is really nice. He's only required to phone those who are successful but he knows how eager we are so said that he'll phone regardless. :)

    Hi all,
I've missed so much! Hope everyone is ok, and i'm sending good luck/hugs to all!
Last week I was down in Norfolk visiting relatives, It really is such a lovely part of the world.

Trudij: I saw horse glitter paint in my local horse shop, not sure what you could dress her up as though. She is so beautiful!

So on the toiletry front, here goes:

Some unexpected INs courtesy of mother dearest:

    1x Tesco Cucumber face scrub
    1x Tesco Cucumber face wipes
(I have been wanting to try this range for a while, such good prices, I hope they are good)

1x Norfolk Lavender hand and body lotion from my trip. So lovely, can't wait to use it.

1x Right guard Ultra cool deodorant- Never tried this brand only £1 in Boots so thought i'd try it. See UUs. No deodorant left in stash, only one mini in my swimming bag, so had to purchase one.

So UU (dissapointingly few in number after I took a whole bunch of minis on my trip!)

1x mini freebie hotel soap. Put out another lovely olive oil one now.
1x Dove Beauty finish deodorant- WIBA? I might do if it was on offer. Nice fragrance.
1x Boots sun, swim and gym shampoo WIBA? possibly, if it was a good price.
1x Herbal Essences Beautiful ends conditioner WIBA? If I could find it for a bargainous 75p again!! :D

One OUT: Minus 417 cuticle oil, this has been opened for yonks, no idea what to actually do with it, so thought I best put it out.

Several more products are spluttering though :p
Foot cream, Foundation, Nivea Soft creme and my BS mini conditioner.

Thanks sarah*a, that's lovely. I do look scary in the morning though :D. Upset a poor fella this morning. Really high temp so I went and covered him with wet pillow cases. Poor devil. He knew what I was going to do as soon as I said "You're going to hate me for this, but it's all right 'cause I'm going home now ;)"
LadyM, really hope it was good news for you with your bid for the home. Fingers crossed xx

As Pink Rose Candle Philosophy - using your beautiful things to make you feel better rather than keeping them for a non-existent 'best occasion' - originated on this thread, I think it's EXACTLY the right place to post it. Thank you for sharing your story. My Mum was similar, but did wear her best bits at Christmas and birthdays.

Well done on the stash reduction... I think that's where we all want to be (cool that it's an eco-friendly hessian bag for life too.)

A UU The Compeed 75ml Cracked Heel Balm. WIBA? Nein, as it is a German product. It really is WAY overpriced for what is a very moderate product. It is thick and rubs in well, but so it should at the price. I didn't have cracked heels but I did have the odd rough patch and it wasn't particularly effective on these. Nice soft baby lotion smell, but I prefer a stronger niff for feet.

So a necessary IN of another cracked heel cream, from Poundworld. Can't remember the name at the moment, but it was in a stylish white tube with a pic of a group of bare soles.
This has my favourite - for - feet peppermint-menthol fragrance, and urea, so it's already a winner.

Thank you to those who have taken Ripley for a walk. It's good fun, isn't it? I've discovered that when you call her she either licks or smiles, the smile is very winning...
Erma Bombeck, American writer: "If I had my life to live over again... I would have burned the pink candle, sculptured like a rose, that melted in storage." Don't keep things 'for best' - that day never comes. Use them and enjoy them now.

I must admit I love some of the cartoon characters for dressing up. Think Penelope Pitstop lol. Or you and your OH couple dress up as a famous couple like Fred & Wilma Flintstone, Peter & Lois Griffin.

My last costume was an 19th century Madam de Sade type get up which I loved. I got a lovely black and gold dress with a bug grey powered wig and "glass slippers". This type of thingy.

It didn't cost too much either and will be getting another outting on Saturday for my work's Halloween Party.
