Just heard of the passing of a dear Internet friend today - also Trudij's friend. He died last week and it's hit me like a hammer blow. You don't have to meet someone for the friendship to be real.
Hope it all goes well. xxx
I'm so sorry to hear of your loss, McCulloch and Trudij. You're right, friendships come in many forms and who's to say one is more valid than another.
Thanks everyone for the many hugs you've sent! As always, much appreciated and comforting.
Well, we all survived today and it went as well as such a thing could have done. So that's that, really, now it's trying to get back to life without him, which I'm sure will be harder - weirdly at least the last couple of weeks, organising stuff, has been doing things and kept busy - now that's all over, there's more chance to notice the gap, if that makes sense?
Anyhow, next job is moving house on Saturday. Estate agents have decided to be awkward and thought that although the last tenants moved out last week, they'd actually wait until Saturday morning to get the carpets cleaned. So glad I'm paying rent yet they won't let us move in until mid afternoon. It's not like my current landlord is expecting to be able to do a check out at a decent time... Oh well, I shouldn't get stressed over it really - it's not huge in the grand scheme of things! :-)
Right, I'm off to bed. Catch you all soon xxx0 -
UU No7 cleanser, WBA in fact already did a couple of weeks back with a skinny:money:Debt free and busy treating myself:)
No more toiletries/make up until I've used what I've got stashed since Jan 2011, graduated October 2012. Restocked Dec 13..damn those sales0 -
Glad today went ok Flirtini - I know exactly what you mean, I was the same after dad died - it was ok while we were arranging everything, but when the funeral was over....
it does get easier, its just different.
xxDo not meddle in the affairs of dragons, for you are crunchy and taste good with ketchup0 -
I'm pleased everything went as well as it could, Flirtini.
I agree completely with Trudi, it does get easier as time passes, but nothing is the same. Thoughts catch you at random moments - I often found unexpected tears in private (and yet I can't cry in public).
I wish I could remember where the saying 'Grief is the price we pay for love' came from, I have often found that a real comfort. (Does anyone know?)
It's hard, yes, but it's hard because you had love for your Dad. Big hugs... and good luck with the move.Erma Bombeck, American writer: "If I had my life to live over again... I would have burned the pink candle, sculptured like a rose, that melted in storage." Don't keep things 'for best' - that day never comes. Use them and enjoy them now.0 -

According to Google, The Queen said it in her closing speech after 9/11. All I can find looking up the origins or where it came from are sites/articles quoting her speech.
Although I did find this which dates it older than 9/11, however most things link it to The Queen. It must be older though, surely?
How Long Will The Pain Last?
By Martha White ©1996
How long will the pain last?" a broken hearted mourner asked me.
"All the rest of your Life." I have to answer truthfully.
We never quite forget. No matter how many years pass, we remember. The loss of a loved one is like a major operation.
Part of us is removed, and we have a scar for the rest of our lives.
As years go by, we manage. There are things to do, people to care for,
tasks that call for full attention. But the pain is still there, not far below
the surface. We see a face that looks familiar, hear a voice that echoes, see a photograph in someone's album, see a landscape that once we saw together, and it seems as though a knife were in the wound again. But not so painfully. And mixed with joy, too. Because remembering a happy time is not all sorrow, it brings back happiness with it.
How long will the pain last?
All the rest of your life. But the things to remember is that not
only the pain will last, but the blessed memories as well. Tears
are proof of life. The more love, the more tears. If this be true,
then how could we ever ask that the pain cease altogether. For
then the memory of love would go with it.
The pain of grief is the price we pay for love.:j0 -
That's lovely xoxo, thanks for sharing that. I feel all warm inside now (may be due to the incredibly hot coffee which I'm drinking way too fast mind
).

Hi everyone:)
I found another 9 things to add to my stash after i had a clean up. I am currently doing a spring clean on my house and have a dreadful feeling my stash count is going to keep going up every day that I do it:o. On the good side i did my weekly shop and talked myself out of a cleanser and fake tan that were both heavily reduced just by thinking about how big my stash was already and even though I dont have any fake tan, do I really need it? Nope was the answer so surely i must be learning..Thailand 3010/15000 20150
