Hi,
I work for Halifax and unfortunately there's no longer the facility to add an account to My Accounts page. It should do this automatically, however, Trustee accounts opened approximately after September 12th (Lloyds system take-over), can't be viewed online as the accounts are now opened as trustee but child's name comes first and adult's name is second (similar to a "joint" account set-up). This means the account is not viewable on the adult's account and can only be viewed online once the child is 16+. The majority of trustee accounts are also branch-based with "passbooks". Having said that, trustee accounts opened before September 12th should be viewable online as these were opened with the adult's name first.0 -

Thanks for the info. Shame this information hasn't been passed to the branch staff who claim the opposite. I've had so many problems with the Halifax recently. The amount of time it takes to resolve simple problems is unbelievable.0 -
I think since Lloyds TSB taken them over things have gone a little pear shaped compared to what the old Halifax customers were used to.
Continuing with the Online Banking (sorry!), have you noticed that there is now way to find out when your credit card payment is due and even for how much it will be for?
Come on Halifax, get it sorted!0 -
Beware! I had regular saver accounts (with 10% interest in the 'old days'!) for my kids. At the 12 month anniversary the money was transferred into Save for it accounts (passbook, lower interest rate), but I continued to save in the regular saver, until the next 12 month & on it rolled quiet nicely.
Now last year they decided that instead of transferring to the save for it account they would just change my regular saver accounts to young saver accounts (rubbish interest rate, no passbook, internet & telephone access), but continued to take the 'regular saver' money from me on a monthly basis.
Now here's where it gets really good...
On the 17th July 2012 they removed access to Children's accounts online. I can still see my save for it (ironically, as I also have a passbook for this account) however the Young Saver that they MADE me have (I didn't sign up for it), I don't have a passbook for, but now I can't view or transfer any monies online or via the telephone any more!?! My only option is to trail into branch & say I think I have an account, I'm not sure what any of the details of it are, please can you try & find my money that you have taken & hidden from me, removing all my rights to access it, without any prior notification, or indeed ANY notification at all!!
Now the poor guy on the telephone has just had an earful from me, bless him. It turns out, the front line staff only found out on the 23rd July themselves!
So who in their infinate wisdom decided to remove access to customers accounts, without even thinking that it might be a good idea to let the customer know 1st (or at all, or perhaps even their own frontline staff!!)? Is it just me that is cross, or are they really just taking our money & hiding it from us. Is that not deceitful? What would the FSA think? Good practice? Perhaps not? Mmmmm...

What happens if you don't have access to a branch any more?
All our Halifax branches are now only Bank of Scotland, presumably they are still able to access the funds from the Regular Savers that go into these Young Saver accounts?0 -
I'd posted this earlier as i was at the end of my tether

I've since had a phone call from my branch who said that the reason online access has been pulled for childrens accounts is that some people were using the accounts to gain tax advantages. The guy from the branch said it was the first they'd known of it! they assured me that the accounts will be viewable again online at some point, under my log in but they have no timescale. I understand why they have done it but all seems a little underhand - not telling customers about any of it in advance. I might have a look around, see what is available elsewhere. Still not totally comfortable with the situation. No passbook or card and 2 accounts with money in....far from ideal0 -

I was told to "add an account" during my first (of many) conversations about this on Monday. No-one has a clue what is going on there.0 -
My childs Regular Saver account has also gone "missing" from my accounts.
I had a letter in July saying the anniversary of the account was coming up, they said the account would automatically become a young saver account unless I completed the enclosed form asking for the balance to be paid into another account and then they would restart the Regular Saver account for another year.
I completed the form and asked for the balance to be paid into my childs Save4it account. The anniversary has now passed, the Regular Saver account has vanished from my accounts and the balance has not been transferred to the Save4it account.
Rang Customer Services yesterday who said they could not help as Regular Savers accounts are delt with in Branch, looks like a trip to the branch today.Cashback earned

I've had enough with the childrens accounts there and went in the other day and closed them all. Went to Nationwide and opened up 2 Childrens Smart Saver accounts which pay 2.1% Gross and come with a passbook. Very relieved now as the branch interviewers at Halifax were useless and I was getting mixed information from different people.0
