I'm not sure if the PS2 has a similar function or not though.
no a PS2 doesnt have the same function. we have just plugged the pins straight in but play it on an av channel.0 -

Thanks so much!
2 things...scrilla the link for the cable shows about 5 pins-myPS2 has a yellow, red & white??!
Also....I do have red/yellow/white INPUT holes on side of TV (above headphone jack)...the manual doesn't really show this (ulness I'm looking in wrong place?).
Could I follow the technique you've said, scrilla & THEN plug directly to TV....or do I still need the lead? Assume this lead just plugs into the back of the tv? Any idea which socket to use?
Thanks agian-this is all way over my head so the help appreciated.0 -
With regards to the cable, the part that goes into the PS2 is the black part. The other 5 go into the TV. This cable is preferred for HDTV as it will allow your PS2 to output a higher image quality (not HD standard mind you, but better than standard definition).
I'm getting a bit confused myself about your cables now. Does your cable look like this:
Hold fire on that idea though - you may not need a new cable. I've just seen something else in the manual now that you've said your have red/yellow/white inputs on the side of your TV: Try your SCART connection again. Then refer to page 39 of your manual which tells you how to tell your TV your signal will be from the red/yellow/white inputs (composite input). You do not need to change settings on your PS2 for this. Let me know how that goes.0 -
DEBTMONKEY1A's TV doesn't have composite inputs unfortunately. (Unless I've looked up the wrong TV.)DEBTMONKEY1A wrote: »Also....I do have red/yellow/white INPUT holes on side of TV (above headphone jack)...the manual doesn't really show this (ulness I'm looking in wrong place?).
When I looked at the manual (unless I looked at the wrong one), there was a side diagram on p19 that showed composite inputs.:heartpuls Mrs Marleyboy :heartpuls

Scrilla-yes-thats the cable. 3 not 5 pins. Will have a look at the manual-thanks again!0

Thanks Tigsteroonie! I didn't see that. You're right in what you say about simply using those to connect. Since they don't seem to work (as per the OPs original post) I suggest the SCART method in my previous post. Failing that, component cables may be the solution.
I am struggling to figure out why the composite cables don't work when plugged in directly0 -
Hi-noticed this actually for a few days! NO SCART1/2 displays at all in settings menu! Have searched all other settings & can't find it. It should be above automatic power down. Nowhere to be seen. Now I am confused! Might have to ring the Toshiba Helpline tomorrow.0
