Bookmaker Winnings - when does money become mine ??

winnings were due to me at 8:40pm - shop shut at 9:30. The issue is that if the member of staff had contacted their manager they would have opened a machine to pay me out so i don't believe there is a security risk + if there was then should the shop have been open ? my safety would have been at risk just as much as theirs ??
I was hoping someone would come back with some legal or consumer advice ?1 -

You've dismissed my very valid points.
Also I notice you haven't offered your own opinion.0 -

Well people do try to rob bookmaker shops.
What bookmakers was it out of interest.0 -

Legally they now owe you £300, the payment of this money is subject to their fair terms and conditions you agree to by using their services.
Enforcing your rights is done so through the county court, I doubt a judge would issue you costs for them taking 2hrs to pay money due.0 -
PS the shop in question is Betfred + in my opinion :-
(1)if there is a serious security risk they should employee security, other types of shops do
(2) they should have informed me before I placed the bet that they wouldn't be able to pay me out + given me the choice to place the bet elsewhere or not at all
(3) they should have large notices informing customers that they may not be able to pay customers out on demand
(4) staff know exactly what is in the machines from their tills + the machines require to be accounted for each evening anyway0 -

9/10 the machines are NOT owned by the bookmaker they are leased and what money is in the machine does not all belong to the bookmakers as they have to give a percentage to the machine owners. thios is accountant differently to what is taking in bets1 -
So now you've got the money, what are you moaning about? You don't really think they are going to open the machines with customers (even just one) in the shop?0

i just fell of my chair :rotfl::rotfl:
fruit machines etc. are not linked to shop tills, so their i no way of knowing whats in any machine until it is opened at the end of the day0 -

Why should they have to spend another £50k/year?
You'd also be the first to moan when the payouts when down or prices went up to cover this....
(2) they should have informed me before I placed the bet that they wouldn't be able to pay me out + given me the choice to place the bet elsewhere or not at all
I bet there it has theirs T and Cs somewhere in the betting shop, you just didn't read them.
(3) they should have large notices informing customers that they may not be able to pay customers out on demand
Answered above.

Yes they will know whats in their tills, safe ect. Then when money goes in its accounted for automatically, when money is taken out it needs to be checked & verified, then accounted for so they know at all times where cash is. The machines I believe are counted at the end of the night then tallied with a report the machine produces -- I iimagine.
Sometimes I wonder if people are falling from other planets and landing here.0 -

He's actually right, the staff know exactly how much is in the FOBT (Roulette machines), whether they have the key for it is another matter as not all staff have authority.0
