Winter Tyres

Drive to the conditions and you'll be fine. The biggest problem is and always will be other people.
Friction was my biggest problem.
When there isn't any between the ice and summer tyres, driving to the conditions mean you're stationary, or sliding backwards downhill.
Winter tyres change all that.
If you don't need the car, by all means don't fit them, but if you can't not go out, they're worth the cost.0 -
You've got the Peugeot, did that need them last year?
My wee Corsa had no problems at all. A bit of thought and keeping momentum was enough, no ABS probably helped as well.0 -
There's a long slow hill near us, alot of people stop going up, and can't start again, or even slide backwards. So if you're stuck behind them winter tyres make starting again a lot easier, or even just driving round them.
Same going down the other side, they make braking normal, at the bottom, rather than risk sliding across the junction.
The 106 was ok last year, but the difference on mine makes it worth trying them on it this year.
I have to admit I'm someone that has been in the snow year in year out every year, and have been out before the gritters across the moors, when you couldn't even find the road, but I'm convinced now they're worth it.0 -
I had four Continental Winter Contact TS830P's, 225/45 R17 V (94) fitted for £157.80 each, at the beginning of August to a set of alloys I got off Ebay (last December during the snow). The cheapest I can find now is £166.37 if you can get them, my original supplier is no longer listing them and several other suppliers are showing no stock or prices around £188 each. Last winter they were going for around £200 each on Ebay without fitting.0
