Need help with this one if anyone could advice please? DS is still in a cot bed with a cotbed quilt of maybe one tog. Room very cold, what size single quilt would you use, he's moving into bottom bunk very soon. Looked on all mums sited got ltd info. Worried 4.5 won't be warm enough. Have 10.5 but DD has has 13.5 don't want to cook him or suffocate him. He wears pj's or fleecy sleepsuit to bed and is very wriggly in bed. So sorry post is extra long will creep into lurkdom again

Could you not put him in a sleeping bag? my daughter wriggles loads she is in a sleeping bag and I am putting a fleece under her sheet to prevent heat loss and then when it gets really cold I will put a cotbed quilt over the top of her.To get to Disneyland Florida 20160 -
Cheap winter boots, I haven't tried them, but they look quite good for the price, although we might need them a bit longer!

My windows have a large opening and a little opening in a top corner, so I've clingfilmed in an "L" shape to block off the big window but leave the little one available for ventilation.
So far it's cut out the condensation that was already beginning to form, so at least it takes the edge off.

Hello, I have been lurking on this thread a little while and was wondering if there was much else i could do, I have very limited money as I am changing job so mucks up my money and oh has to have an operation soon and he will have to be off work a couple of weeks so I am trying to do the best I can in the house without costing me money.
Oh has got his thermals (he works outdoors) he has trousers, tshirts, gloves and hat plus has a thermal cup for taking coffee to work with him, I have dug out my scarfs and gloves and bought some boots which should be waterproof in the snow. I still need to buy both my girls (1 and 4) thermal gloves and probably thermal hat for eldest where is cheapest please??
I have used a sun reflector for the car to go behind our bedroom and little ones bedroom radiator, eldest has the warmest room as she has the airing cuppboard in her room, the sun reflector has fallen down so oh is out getting drawing pins to try now.
I am putting fleece blankets under the sheets on everyones beds to prevent heat loss and have bought an extra fleece for curling up with on the sofa (wish i'd bought 2 now) I have a hot water bottle (OH doesn't use one) and got my eldest a cuddly toy which holds a little hot water bottle.
I have cleared all windowsills so all curtains and blinds can shut which I have started doing as soon as dusk come in now to keep the heat in. I have stocked up on de icer although will use a jug of water at home to save a little money, we have icer scrapers etc but will need to box stuff up for the cars.
I have full freezers pleanty of tins of soups, toilet rolls, nappies and wipes and the first aid cupboard is stocked, I have bought some long life milk just incase but we are lucky we don't tend to get snowed in although getting out of our road is a nightmare. We have a spade which will do instead of a shovel and there is a grit bin at the top of the road as we live on a bank so we constanty have to ring for that restocking (my dad is disabled and can't even walk up the road when it is bad) we managed to get a lovely grit wagon driver to do our road once last year.
All winters coats are washed and tried on and my eldest daughter has her wellies, hubbies has his from work and I don't wear them as the little trips I do my boots should be enough.
Sorry for the long post please could anyone point me in the right direction for anything else I can do on a tight budget - also switching gas and electric to cheaper company but that will be a few weeks yet.
CheersTo get to Disneyland Florida 20160 -

the 10days at a glance is good as it gives you the feel like temp rather than what it is. I find this very useful as the wind can make a average temp feel bl**dy cold!
They also have a very good forum too under the community heading.

Tried that, he had to be taken out of them at 15 months old he hates them. Yet my DD slept in them till she was 3! Thank you for the suggestion though.0 -
