Can anyone tell me if the argos value range duvets are any good? - have used asda basics ones in the past and they were fine, but got to go to argos anyway tomorrow and can pick up the duvets at the same time, not going anywhere near asda - well not unless I find any in lake district, going there for first time tomorrow lol.

Oh in my previous post I sounded rather nasty about hubby - wouldn't part from him despite his faults lol - been married 31 years tomorrow so must love him I guess lol

    Thanks

I really prefer feather duvets, they have a better feel / life to them.

I would love to have feather again but with three dogs - one who tends to sleep with us especially its not an option so they need to be washable or cheap enough to replace as accidents happen and that includes claws tearing them, not worth buying anything expensive in this house :j
Need to get back to getting finances under control now kin kid at uni as savings are zilch

  • Didn't have a good night:( - been up for ages .....

Anyway, something came to me which may come in handy if you're trying to start off in the car when it's icey/snowy and it's sliding around all over the place.

I've shown people how to do it but am struggling a bit to put it into words so will keep it very basic, if it doesn't make sense, please say and I'll give it another bash:o (as it really does work):):

Start your car and do everything as normal except do not go anywhere near your accelerator - when you get to the bite in the cluth, release the handbrake/brake pedal, let out the clutch gently .... and the car will move:). Once moving and "stable", you can then move into the next gear/use your accelerator.

It's a very alien feeling and doesn't feel natural at all:o but the car moves just by releasing the clutch (and no acceleration) - it's great for trying to move off from a parking spot or if you're on an incline at a set of traffic lights etc.

I give myself a "crash test" in doing this every year as it's a long time since doing it the earlier year .... have a couple of practices just now while the weather's good (empty parking spaces in a supermarket car park etc).

    HTH:)

They're fine - the one on my bed is currently an Argos value one (and have also got Asda value ones too) for exactly the same reason as you! They've been in the machine / washed several times & still going strong!

Congratulations on your wedding anniversary - it's lovely to hear of people being together for a long time and still head over heals....:D

I spent a couple of hours organising our winter bedding. Flannelette is now on and although living in the south where it is still not cold, It is so gorgeously comfortable on the bed. I bought a very good value blanket box from ebay a few months ago and all our bedding changes for winter are now in there. Airing cupboard is now so tidy with space to spare, having donated 2 lovely sets of patterned bedcoverings to oxfam. We just don`t need the coverings these days as we have the one set left in case we have to show people around our (unusual) house

dd is staying here while on various courses and I just had to get flannelette for the spare beds as I want her to be comfy. What an eye opener re trying to get hold of some. I have qvc heavyweight flannel and it is fantastic but I had to go through loads before I found some that was not sold out. I never realised it was so hard to get these days

The next thing we have to do is get the winter kit into the car boot as winter can suddenly hit us

Do you or anyone else know the best place to buy/get electric throws?

right off the search for an old fashioned phone - it was a bit scary being isolated with no phone..
