Preparing for winter III

I'm chuckling now as this has made me remember the day I moved in here ...... one of the first things I did was get the TV set up, cable pludded into the ariel socket but couldn't get a signal.
Hunted the outside of the house but couldn't find a TV ariel - but there was a Sky dish up.
After speaking to several neighbours, I found out that the TV reception is terrible (village surrounded by hills - of course at the bottom of them - and miles from transmitter). Several people had spent £000s on very good ariels/boosters and still no joy.
Within a week I'd found an old Sky box (off free*cycle;)) and bought a Freesat card!:DGrocery Challenge £211/£455 (01/01-31/03)

All these threads are really long, can anyone point me to any that give good lists of what to have in - I have a good idea and have a lot - but I know can always be added to - I just couldn't read every message in the I,II and this one. Just if anyone knows of hand of maybe a good search term to find relevant messages would be good.
I have just bought the book based on the old style board and its fantastic just a shame stocking up for winter wasn't included)))))

Hi prepareathome
My list started from Rainy Days one (thanks again, Rainy!) https://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/discussion/comment/45741528#Comment_45741528

There's also some tips for the car (if you have one) https://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/discussion/comment/28664133#Comment_28664133 and https://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/discussion/comment/46996995#Comment_46996995

Further to my front door curtain plan:
I managed to pick up a pair of 66x90" Ring Top Curtains from Argos on clearance price of £10 and great news as no need to shell out on hooks/rings!!!
Now all I require is a way of attaching the pole between 2 walls ??

A couple of options for that:
I've put up poles that sit in "cups" (rather than the circular ones that you have to slide the pole through) like this one http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Wooden-curtain-pole-35dia-3-0m-10ft-Natural-CUP-/120790365809?pt=UK_Home_Garden_Curtains_Blinds_CurtainFixtures_Accessories_EH&hash=item1c1faab671and cut the pole to size and lifted on, or something like an extendable shower rail http://www.argos.co.uk/static/Product/partNumber/8312996/Trail/searchtext%3ECURTAIN+POLE.htm
Note: not the cheapest you can find, it's late ..... and I think time for bed!Grocery Challenge £211/£455 (01/01-31/03)

Can anyone recommend a Sunggie as a good means of keeping warm during the impending cold months ahead?
Thanks0 -
rising from the ashes, that is perfect just what I am looking for and yes we have a car - been slowly buying bits for it, up till last year hubby refused to bother with things for emergency ( moaned they cause him to use more petrol by their weight) and got stuck in middle of nowhere at night and he does go on long drives for his hobby at weekends - so far I have bought him a
fold up snow shove,
a kit that contains tow rope, emergency blanket, ice scraper and handwarmers
a torch that has a laser ( not sure if that will be needed but thought might be handy at some point
De-icer - he always does keep some in car as well as in house after me moaning at him.
So list has some other useful things - my hubby is type that thinks world works the way he expects it to and has been caught out most of his life by it not, as to emergency things in the home he knows better than to interfere with my plans lol

Can anyone tell me if the argos value range duvets are any good? - have used asda basics ones in the past and they were fine, but got to go to argos anyway tomorrow and can pick up the duvets at the same time, not going anywhere near asda - well not unless I find any in lake district, going there for first time tomorrow lol.
Oh in my previous post I sounded rather nasty about hubby - wouldn't part from him despite his faults lol - been married 31 years tomorrow so must love him I guess lol
