5 degrees and raining in Norfolk - been grey and chilly all day. It was like a really hopeless November pm with that bloomin' Sunday afternoon feeling again. No forecast of the white stuff for us - hope we get some because although I dont like the cold and I know its dangerous and everything at least it makes the place look tidy and clean - IYSWIM - I had a boyfriend who was a real soppy back in my teens, always writing me poetry - the only line I can remember because it was SO true was 'Even the dustbins look lovely in the snow....'
HOWEVER - I feel really bucked up now because after the most almighty effort I managed to get my new carpet up the stairs AND laid over the old!!!!!!!! It is only inches short of being the absolute right size BUT MORE IMPORTANTLY it has completely changed the whole look and feel of the bedroom!! Im inspired to strip of the wall paper and paint now because I know exactly what shade I need to complete the warm up.
Who needs an OH? (actually it would have been far easier and quicker with help - but hey Im tough!)
Stay warm my lovelies up north!

Whereabouts in Norfolk are you tugrin? It's just that I'm clearing out here so might be able to drop some stuff off on my way past over Christmas if they would be of any use... If it's logistically workable I'll give you first refusal before consigning stuff to the charity shop :)

Temp is one degree here and we are forecast some of the white stuff:eek:

I`ve put the soft sweeping brush and my new snow shovel along with some grit in the boot of the car so thats one thing taken care of.

The new super duper screenwash went into the washer bottle yesterday and i`ve managed to get the garden benches and one of the tables into the greenhouse - the others usually stay outside as there's nowhere else to put them, the potted apricot is in the greenhouse too and all covered up now, hope that its going to be ok as i snapped one of the smaller bits off it.

I`ve still not insulated the outside tap (although it is turned off) and now its pitch black so won`t be messing about with it tonight.

Might do a Mardatha and wake up to a white world in the morning :D Part of me is looking forward to it and part of me is dreading it lol, if i didn`t have to go anywhere i`d love it:D

tugrin - glad to hear your carpet is looking good - worth all the hard work getting it upstairs. It's right what you say about one thing inspiring you on to do more. Enjoy! and well done.

Thanks beanie - I cant really believe Ive done it - it is 10 x 9 after all and lastnight I kept waking up and thinking "how on earth am I going to do this crazy thing - should I ask the neighbours - but I dont want to ask too many time for help et etc" you know the kind of thing. Now I have to strip the walls - maybe next weekend as its a free activity and with zero disposable cash 'til payday I need things to keep me occupied. Then paint after payday.
What do you mean CHristmas is coming? I have a project to finish - it cant come until I'M READY!

Can you ask your kids to give you the paint and provide some labour as your christmas present? Doing the decorating will keep you all warm and cut down on the need for heating :p

Thats an idea greenbee - although they have been rather put off decorating and DIY over the years as they have watched me going potty with it so many times, but its worth a try - even if they just club together to get me the paint it would be fab.
What do you all think about replacing the hideous sliding doors/fitted wardrobe with curtains as a temp. measure until I can take it all out?

You could paper the hideous doors - cheaper than curtains. And when getting rid of the wardrobe remember you will be losing an enormous amount of cupboard space and will need to replace it/declutter.
