just to say thanks for spreading the word about rory lets hope we get some good news today
  • First wash will be ready soon and another 2 to go this morning, the sun is coming out :). Looks like another good day coming up

I finished my winter prep a while ago and am now starting to use what I put by all through summer. That includes the candles, I have dozens  collected over the years and mostly yankee ones. A candle in the snug last night and it was lovely and it added a degree or two so that we were warm enough without extras on. Look at it this way, 17 weeks to spring and how long will it take to make any inroad into my stores . The upside I`ll only be buying fresh eggs week on week

I hope you find that little dog, what a heatbreak

thanks and sorry if i have over stepped the mark but if it gets the dog home it makes it worth while
    xxx

I hope he is found, I heard about it over the weekend, so posted on facebook. I have joined the missing pet registers as a friend so when a lost animal is posted I am notified and I then post it on facebook, unless the animal is lost nearby not much else I can do, but just hope by me putting it on facebook, others copy and maybe if really lucky someone who sees my post will see the animal. It is so sad when you heard about another missing pet and now heading in for winter I am really praying all are found safe and well before the really cold weather hits. Sorry this being O/T but it is one way to try and help find these pets.

I finally managed to get some snowboots http://www.trespass.co.uk/product/footwear-5/mens-footwear-13/mens-snow-boots-265/yetti-mens-snow-boots-MAFOBOE20008 from the Trespass store at an outlet centre, £24.99 instead of the online shop price of £49.99. They are mens ones but I don't care as they nice and comfortable. :)

A wireless mouse can be used almost anywhere - I sometimes sit on my settee with my laptop on my knee and the mouse on the arm of the settee.

A laptop with a touchpad may not be the solution - my laptop does have a touchpad and resting my hand on the edge of the computer as I used the pad resulted in nerve damage that was just as bad as RSI.

I ended up using something like this:

    http://www.return2fitness.co.uk/Supports_and_Braces/Wrist_Supports/carptun454

Mine is not this one, it's not as surgical looking but has the same concept - a tight fitting mitt with a solid, shaped splint from palm to wrist to keep the hand/wrist in a position that does not allow nerve damage, etc. There's no label on mine - think I cut it out - so I can't say where I got it from, but it really did the trick. After a while I was able to go back to not using it and now use it if I notice a bit of ache/tingling.

i use one of these too when mine is bad and they are very good. i sometimes wear mine overnight if my hands are really bad, i just remove the metal splint so i don't hurt myself with it
  • OH and I have split up, he's moving out and has been at a friend's since Saturday night. Flat feels sooo much colder..... Been sitting with with my fleeces on the sofa (I also use a USB mouse for my lappie, always have) and have been setting the heater and electric blanket up in the bed room about an hour or so before bed.

Think without Ex's food requirements my shopping bill will drop quite a bit...... Less washing & washing up... Need a lodger for the spare room though........ Oh god :faint:

aww bless lucy, i feel for you. i know it's hard at first but as you said you'll have more control over the spending now and over your life. when i left my husband 2.5 years ago it was scary but it had been a long time coming and i was pleasantly surprised how well i handled it all

i do warn you though, you eventually get used to controlling the remote, sleeping in as much as the bed as you want and eating/doing what you want when... i do think if i ever got into another relationship i'd have some serious adjusting to do :rotfl:

keep your head held high, you'll probably do better than you think you will and know we're here if you need a shoulder to cry on ;)

It was a similar situation in 2008 with previous Ex, that's what caused half my debt in the first place

I have more tools in my belt to deal with this now ;)

  • Morning all, turgin I hope you are feeling a bit better this morning, Kittie, you certainly sound full of vim.

Here also woken up to a fairly sunny morning, but as we have less cloud cover the temp has lowered and definately a bit chillier, but really if stays like this a perfect autumn day.

I am debating what to do about coopers of stortford, emailed them 4 times and apart from their automatic reply nothing and when tried phoning over 40 in the queue ahead of me, so when out shopping today I better start seeing if anywhere local has any of the things I was buying from them for my winter supplies.

Anyone know a good place for a 4 in 1 car starter - that was one of the things i ordered and received and email saying its been sent on 18th Oct, but have to accept I think it was not - they do not even sell them any more ( well didn't any day this week). Car was frozen for a few days last year and meant hubby didn't get into work, and as they only pay him p/t now plus any overtime it meant we lost out on income as of course the days he couldn't get in he had extra hours, so want one of those car starters to hopefully start our poor old girl ( not that old but at 5 getting on, although she wizzes through her MOT and her service in Sept went without a hitch, she is nothing fancy a Kia Picanto, but perfect just for the two of us, our Pippa as hubby named her as she is orange). So if anyone knows anywhere else I am likely to actually receive a 4 in 1 car starter from I would be very grateful.

Right back to knitting, best friend and her granddaughters were saying how they want the hats with flaps, the really nice Norwegian type ones with lots of colours and thick so making them one each for Christmas, but will pass them to them early if weather turns cold. My own granddaughter wants one but it has to be black with small white scull on it, so that reminds me must put black yarn down on shopping list don't have enough in to make one. Not sure about making one for me, being a woman of a certain age - 55 - I have my own central heating which comes on when it feels like, and minute its cold and I wrap up I am having to take off as much as decently possible to try and cool down, went out last year in tee- shirt and jeans a few times when temp was well below freezing, coat taken with and many strange looks received but never needed the coat, nor hats I made myself.

    Right back to knitting

Just read this,I also have an orange Kia Picanto, don't like the colour much but I was looking for an automatic so chose this one as it's small (only me in it usually or with a friend) Mine has an 05 plate on it but it was 18 months old when I got it. It's been very good so far and my garage chap says it's a good little car, only done about 22000 miles so far! It doesn't go very far, usually just shopping. Must admit the small boot drives me mad!:D
