Hi Oliver! Regarding your curtains-could you add an extra lining, which wouldn't be seen? Either fleeces that can be bought cheaply, or in my case I have used large bubble bubblewrap, which I bought cheaply from ebay. It is ideal as it is lightweight so you don't have to worry about overloading your curtain rail/track. I have placed mine between the curtain and its' lightweight lining-bubbles facing the window, flat side to the room.
Tomorrow is always fresh, with no mistakes in it!

whoo hoo my wintertrax arrived today! :D Bring on the snow!!! lol

The only urgent things i need to do now are the curtains over the kitchen window and back door. I have found some old curtains that I need to look at and see if i can adjust and I have a fleece i can put at window if needed. Actually feel like I am getting there though. :D

can anyone recommend a good brand of UHT milk? Or any brands I should avoid? I'd like to get some in for the winter stores but no idea where to start!

I usually have a couple of cartons of Moo Milk in the cupboard for emergencies. Don't ask me why, but the organic version tastes just like "fresh" milk to me, while the non-org version does taste more like UHT but still quite acceptable.

if anyone really wants to stock up for winter approved food has 5kg bags of both egg and regular pasta in all sorts of shapes for £1.35-£1.50 per bag, i also just grabbed a 25kg bag of red lentils for just £8.99 though those are running really low

you can use regular table salt which grocery stores sell 3kg bags of cheaply, you can also get dishwasher salt which is a larger grained salt at lidl it's 2kg for 89p i believe, i've used both quite effectively on my pavements

Got the radio on at work and Asda are advertising winter car stuff such as de-icer on 3 for 2. They were telling people to be prepared and buy now. Have they been reading here:eek:

Selfishly hope I can get my de-icer before it sells out.
  • I've been reading not posting but I have a quick question which came to me over lunch ...

It's all well and good stocking up my freezer (which I have been) but what if we have a power cut and it all deforsts? I guess it's just a risk we have to take. am getting plenty of tinned and dried goods in too but I'm just worried about powercuts, why I'm not sure as we rarely have them and if we do it is only for an hour or so.

All the DIY stores have then big sacks in now - around £7 here - along with piles of snow shovels

Im banned from the salt so now have to go stock up on cat litter. Mind the stone company that made the cobbles for my patio and drive do say they will resist the salt - but DH has threatened me with pain of death if I even scatter a handful

Dont forget when stocking up on de icer - check the anti freeze levels in your car. Could be a very costly mistake
