  • Evening preppers

Had a little trip into Asda this morning and found:

    3 x Screenwash for £3
    3 x De-icer for £3
Pocket sized wind up torch for £2
    Rain-x for £3

    There were also

    Bags of salt
    Asda equivalent of Yaktraks
    Long handled scraper/brush -£5 I think

I now have enough screenwash, de-icer and torches to last a lifetime :rotfl:not to mention toilet roll :rotfl:
As my dad always used to say 'Just because you've got the money doesn't mean to say you have to spend it all at once'

Spiky - I used to give my 2 possets when thay were little - usually made with demerara and cinnamon andsometimes honey/treacle they loved them and I swear they helped them settle.
Have desperately tried to do something/anything in the garden today as weather was vry good (18 at one point) but I feel overwhelmed and behind in this particular dept of prepping. There are weeds everywhere and the compost bin corner is overflowing with 'stuff'. I never finished cutting the hedges this summer either so neighbours are prob. teed off - oh woe..........
On the positive side I did actually take the roof felt that got ripped off by the hurricane last month, to the dump so it looks a little less like a badly organised scrapyard.
Wanted to do some cooking today too but it was all outside stuff and to be honest I only feel like cooking cake and I dont think that freezes too well does it?

Tugrin - cake of most kinds freezes fine. The trick when you feel like cake is to make it, have a bit and slice the rest to freeze so you don't eat it all at once...

I know what you mean about central heating affecting your sinuses Quaser.
I have heating but hate using it,not only does it make me feel "bunged up" but I get very irritated by the dry heat and also very fatigued.
I'm much happier with warm layers on and when I sit around a nice cosy fleecy blanket.
What would we do without fleeces these days,eh:rotfl:.

Not to mention the cheap but VERY warm fleecy blankets I bought in Morrisons a few years ago. They had a bin full of them, special purchase or something, at £3 each. I bought 3. Nice on the bed or around my lap and legs of an evening, when posting in here or watching TV or reading - and a hot water bottle under my feet. Gee I must be getting old... :o:rotfl:
Be careful who you open up to. Today it's ears, tomorrow it's mouth.

Where abouts in Asda did you see these? I need some but loath to pay out for the proper ones as I need to different sized pairs ;)
Creeping back in for accountability after falling off the wagon in 2016.
Need to get back to old style in modern ways, watching the pennies and getting stuff done!
  • Morrison garages are selling fleece blankets for £2.99 each, all patterned and I got some lovely plaid orange/cream and pink to make blinds for bathroom as it all tiled with mainly white and odd tiles in black and or clear so it will brighten it up, bought three but think I will go back and buy a few more, even patterned still do as linings, not the thickest but cheaper than similar I have seen elsewhere and decent size for covering you on couch.
Need to get back to getting finances under control now kin kid at uni as savings are zilch

Got a car windscreen ice protector from pound land, after I'd found a reflective one, also £1.00. I'm interested to see how it will work, looks like it as sucker cups for rapping round to the side windows.

I tried one of those last year (got it from h*lfords) and it froze to the windscreen. It was a nightmare to get off. I was worried that it would damage the car. Eventually I managed to get it off but I would have been much quicker deicing the car than using it. Needles to say it went in the bin.

  • 2 month back you couldnt walk down my local roads without having to be careful you didnt step on any. Never in my life have I seen so many AND ants/flying ants too.

I was thinking I might make my dd a winter hamper and start it as a tradition - not sure what I'll put in, maybe some dvds, a blanket, a hot water bottle to keep downstairs... I'll have a think what else and give it to her 1st November ... I want to make little traditions up so she will look back fondly lol.
(Might do same in spring, summer and autumn too)
