I'm sure we also had a verrreeee light momentary flurry today whilst on the school run here in Cornwall, hahahah not so far south you would think, however normally the rain falls in a certain direction but this was rain in one direction and ever so slightly thicker stuff flowering about with the rain..... Who knows, probably my blood pressure hahaha!!!Thriftkitten

I am new to money saving expert forums and to the world of multi-fuel stoves! I have found the stove harder to get going that I expected! I have been recommended to use two handfulls of coal, light with a firelighter and some chopped up pallet wood. I have just ordered a 50kg bag of coal to be delivered - the price is £14.50 - is this reasonable? Any tips for getting the best heat out of the stove or where to get good deals on coal in Merseyside area are much appreciated. :-)0

They have great knowledge over on the LPG heating side in "UTILITIES".

Lighting a woodburning stove - great video on youtube by FahrenheitStoves He might have a coal one as well but am not sure
Thermals - Sports Direct sell Campri ones. Not bulky and £6 for long johns. I wore mine nearly all last year:)
Down Gilet - again Sports Direct do a fab Karrimor down one for £35. I got mine for £25 last year and it's really warm and washes well. I live in a body warmer in winter as for me having a warm back helps keep the rest of me warm. I did have a polyester one the other year but found that clumped and was carp!0 -

Think I will go for the long curtains and just tuck them in, I know I'd regret buying the shorter ones.
Thanks for the hair scrunchie tip Frugal, read about the magnets over door locks, but mines won't take either, not sure what the heck they are made off but magnets just won't stay on. Actually might need to think of something else as I don't have any scrunchies (short bobbed hair)!
I have a small mark on my screen... I read your post as "Think I will go for the long curtains and just *uck them" :eek:Must clean my screen!
How about cutting a piece off a kitchen/bathroom sponge and making a hole in the middle? That would work0 -
Its half term week here in Scotland, so I am making the best of the week off to get some winters preps done. I did a lot in the summer holidays and now its just really bedding, warm clothes and new boots (though have already bought snow boots), snowtrax and food, cat litter etc.

I got my fleecy mattress protectors a couple of years ago from Wilkinsons and can recommend them.
They are currently £6 for a single, £7.50 for a double and £8.50 for a king size.
