Staffie attack

5.5K Posts

Just been walking my dogs in the park when a male staffie covered in blood came racing over - no owner in sight and no collar - and attacked my male dog. My dog responded and fought back but the staffie wouldn't go away, kept hurling himself at my dogs and myself.
I managed to get myself and the dogs behind an alleygate but my nerves are shredded now. My male dog has a bite under his mouth but the blood off the staffie is all over both of the dogs and myself.
I rang the dog warden who said ring the police. Rang the police, they said ring the RSPCA as it's a dangerous dog and needs specialist handling.
So I told them THEY should deal with the RSPCA and quickly before someone gets badly hurt. The dog was foaming at the mouth and God knows what had happened before it came at my dogs.
I hope they can find it and get it under control.

Something similar happened to me & my dog, with a dog attacking - it's owner was at the other end of the park & had no control - went to clip my lead onto it, to drag it away & so my dog could run away (he's ancient) and it too had no collar on:mad:. Luckily no damage done in this case but honestly some people just shouldn't own dogs - or be allowed to.
I can't believe the attitude of the police, you think they'd be straight on the case & they should surely have contacts within the RSPCA to get an immediate response:mad::mad:. As you say, goodness knows what the dog had been up to if it was already covered in blood and you think the police would want to investigate that!
Hope your boy is OK, I'd take him to the vet to have it checked out & cleaned properly as it's really easy for an infection to start after a dog bite:(. Big hugs for you and both your dogs, it's a truly horrible experience and will leave you all shaky for a while.

It's a threat to people, not just other animals, and the Police should be taking your complaint more seriously.
I wonder what they would say if the dog was attacking a small child? Considering the number of RSPCA Inspector's we have in England, there's no way that they could respond to an incident like this in a timely fashion.
Are you sure it was a dog - could have been a child? ..Call the police again and just tell them you can hear screaming.
(((hugs))) How absolutely awful! Hope you and your dog are ok..
OP hope the dog is caught fast, owner should have his balls chopped off IMHO.
Hope you, your dog and other dogs in the area are ok....
It was definitely a dog and I found out this afternoon that the staffie had attacked another dog - a Jack Russell. Fortunately the owner was present - the Jack Russell was on the lead - and he managed to save his dog. It was badly bitten though and had to be taken to the vet. Hope the poor thing's ok.
Other people have called the police too now but we don't know if the staffie's been rounded up.
Hope the JR is OK too - how's your boy?
