    DocProc,
When I have had a problem with my epson R300 printer I have gone to the epson website to the technical support section, filled in the details and sent a query. I have found them extremely helpful (they may take a couple of days to get back to you) even though the 12 month guarantee has expired.

They will give advice and help with your problem.

When I had the R200, I used to buy cheap CD labels, stick them on with that little press-it gadget, then stick in in the printer and bobs your uncle? You don't need to buy pre-labelled cd/dvds.

these days though you will probably find the cost of cd labels more expensive than the difference in price between printable and non-printable surface disks. If your printer can print directly onto discs, do it, that is what it was designed to do :P

Entirely true, the difference is only a few pence and you get better results and you don't take the chance that the print heads catch the label and damage themselves.

I've had an R200 for about 2 years with no problems at all, mine cost me about £85 at the time, I'm no light user either. After 12 months I had to reset the counters with the app posted on page 2 of this thread because the little pad was full of ink, cheeky Epson said the whole printer needed replacing, don't be fooled! Just reset the counter and dap some loo roll or kitchen towel on the pad where the print head always sits until you no longer get ink on your loo roll or kitchen towel and it'll keep on going, it's a little messy but saves buying a new printer!

I can't fault mine, I've ALWAYS used after market ink carts with it and all of them have worked great. UKDVDR and SVP are who I've always bought ink from, both are very good companies if you haven't used them before. I should think I've easily got through over 400 carts in the time I've had it and there's been no hiccups at all.

The print quality is fantastic hence why I've never felt the need to upgrade, oh and I've never had any problems with different papers from cheapo stuff right up to the expensive stuff.

If you can get one then do it, you can't go wrong with Epson, especially the R200.
  • I have also had one of these printers for over a year and remain highly delighted with the results for both photos and dvd/cd printing. I use compatible inks and have had no problems. Using these means you really don't have to worry about the cost of printing.

Boots clearly don't have many of these left, but Dixons online seem to have stock at £39.97. However, the £9.99 delivery charge is a bit steep!
  • almost blew a gasket (in my head) yesterday.... had called up Liverpool St Station boots at 8am and was told one of their 2 printers would be put aside for my wife to pick up that arvo....

she gets there at about 4:30 and the box is all busted, the printer looks used with scratches on the top and everything out of place AND it's missing it's CD/DVD printer tray!!!!

they offered a disgraceful £2 discount and due to the fear it was the last available in London, we went ahead and bought it thinking we'd chase up Epson for the replacement tray and then get boots to pay for it.

Lo and behold however, it turned out to be my lucky day - one of the earlier posters had alerted me to the fact that there was apparently one still available at Boots Balham (right next to where I live in Clapham)... sure enough I went down there, swapped the beat up crappy machine for their new R200 and got it for the same price £23.99.

very happy chappy now.... might be worth getting on here to indicate which stores have been checked for availability because there could still be some out there!!

I know Liverpool St Station and Balham are obviously sold out (unless you want to try to buy my !!!!!! version that I swapped at Balham).

When I called up yesterday they said they should have these printers at Oxford St store, High St Kensington, Richmond, Wimbledon, Croydon and some place called Wood Green maybe?? not sure about the last one.

good luck to anyone still hunting for this deal
  • Cheers went for a hp 7450.
