Yes same in Edinburgh, except it was at a small private cinema on the southside of the city where I've never been to a freebie film before. None of your cheap cinema seats, we had leather sofas for 2 with tables and footstools plus the champagne and chocolates and so so many chocolates to take home.

A huge thank you to Metro and Lindt Chocolate for a fabby evening!!

Hurray!! Glad to hear someone else had a similar experience :j It was a small independent cinema that we went to as well and they don't usually do the freebie previews either. No leather sofas for us though icon9.gif They were obviously expecting a lot more people to attend, (only half full), so we were told to keep going back for more champers and also we were told to help ourselves to any odd boxes of chocs placed on the unused seats...so it turned into a bit of a treasure hunt!

Still can't remember for the life of me where I heard about it though!!!!! Would hate to miss out if they do it again :p

P.S. The film, The Painted Veil, was excellent too...stunning scenery but OMG  @ Diana Rigg!

  • The Painted Veil at Nottingham Broadway, same experience as people above.

The film was great, loved it and the chocolate and champagne were nice too! Only a handful of people, about 30 I'd say and plenty of empty seats.

But we liked it, so thanks to Metro and Lindt for a wonderful Valentine's day!! I've got plenty of chocolate to keep me happy till Easter!

I went last night to the screening of Painted Veil and was really disgusted in the way people clearly abuse the system and the good nature of the host, it was a good film, in a lovely comfortable cinema and I certainly enjoyed it. Unfortunately the organisers didnt.

The cinema held approx 150, and the organisers had received 150 requests for tickets, therefore within no time the event was full. The organisers and Lindt chocolates arranged for a box of chocolates to be placed on every seat as well as champagne and goody bags. It was an excellent event except that Joe Public attempted to screw it up out of greed.

Roughly 22 people who registered bothered to turn up  the organisers clearly felt the event was a waste of time and will no doubt not bother again due to the complete lack of suppport. It was truly embarrassing.

I really do feel there should be a sticky entitled

"I have freebie preview tickets but can't now make it"

I do not believe roughly 130 people suddenly had a reason that stopped them going, some people clearly do have plans changed and that cannot be helped, but clearly the level of greed of people knowing they can't or don't want to go just applying for tickets is bewildering.

If there was a permanent board to place tickets only when there is a change of plan or people change their mind, I am sure it would benefit all and keep the organisers happy who clearly went to a lot of trouble and expense when they really did not need too? rant over
  • I haven't been to one free screening yet, that has been full - even when all tickets have been allocated...and I've noticed over the last few months that the screens showing these films have been getting smaller and smaller (at my local cinema anyway). It's a shame. I wonder just how many people actually bother to email seefilmfirst and such like, to say they can't go, and give someone who can go the chance to obtain a ticket...unfortunately not all people who will have obtained codes for free screenings will be MSErs.

  • I just got my first free tickets! Hurray! And managed to not post about it in the other thread :D
  • people, I'm sorry to ask a question that's no doubt been asked and answered a number of times within this thread but I've trawled through the first and last 5 or 6 pages and for the life of me I can't see any info about getting free cinema tickets?????? just seems to be a whole bunch of people talking about getting tickets to certain movies / how they went to the cinema and what they thought of the movie

is there something I'm missing or am I just having a bad brain day??

is there another thread or another website I need to go to in order to be in with a chance of getting free cinema tickets?

I live in south London if that's an important bit of information??
  • Hi mattersdorf

This is the discussion thread where we all discuss films without cluttering the free cinema preview sticky at the top of the freebies board.

I hope you to get to see some great films :)
